No reverse gear

My X1 got the drivetrain message and no reverse gear suddenly .

The reverse gear can work sometime after engine restart. But slamming occur in reverse / 1-2 gear shift.

Took it to BMW center with diagnostic check
4217E1: Transmission ratio monitoring, reverse gear: Clutch C3 or B2 jammed.

My vehicles is automatic transmission with 40000km, 2018X1 Aisin gearbox. Have it checked by another garage too where got the same result as using scan tool only.

Both garage didn't check the oil level or fluid status. Anyone can help in giving more clue to fix it as I can't afford to replace the whole gearbox.

Same car and exactly same problem

Is this solved. took my x1 2018 to a local garage and they scanned it and refer me to go to a bmw specialist.
error code 4203B1 and 4217E1. same issue with reverse and 1/2 gear

F48 Auto Gearbox

Nelson, my 2016 (60k miles) gearbox has been condemned by a BMW dealer for a couple of error messages. No probs with reverse as yet just doesn't like sharp take-offs and hesitates between low gears. Get her up to 60 mph and she feels as if she would go all day!
Had diagnosis at gearbox specialist resulted in being told that 3rd gear clutch has failed or worn. Also told me that my gearbox had too much oil in it, and that would be from New. They recommended oil change at 40k or 50k!

Recondition recommended at quoted price of £7k+ (ie half the value of the car!). I'm considering my options which don't look too great.

BMW recommended gearbox replacement at cost of £8500 Plus fitting plus VAT ie somewhere past £12k. Of course BMW don't do such work on cars so you are forced to go to Specialists.

Same car, same year same problem.
Lag and violent shock from 2nd to 3rd or when engaging reverse.
