I recently travelled to France and was surprised and delighted that the display was converting French KPH speed limits to MPH. Is this an automatic feature or was it due to me having set the Satnav to a French destination?

I believe it’s automatic. When coding the speed limit information display, one of the options is “country specific”, so the car is presumably smart enough to know what country you’re in and adjust mph to km/h.

I would rather change my digital display to km/h but intrigued to know if the sat nav would show speed limits as mph or km/h

IDrive will show whatever you have selected in Language/Units. I don’t know which version of iDrive you have…but you should be able to easily extrapolate from the screen shots from ID4 and ID7 below.
