The 'tramlining' you get with RFTs is annoying too. Not as bad on my X2 compared to my previous 335i (which had Potenza RFTs). I notice it when coming to a slowdown at lights on a road that has undulations in line with the road (not across)...the car pulls slightly one way or the other.
I think it's the stiff sidewall on RFTs that acts like a railway carriage wheel and wants to follow the grooves in the road. I will replace my RFTs with go-flats when the time comes.

You're OK here as long as you dont mess around with tyre sizes as there is an option on some new X2s to have standard tyres as per brochure or opt for run flats as a £150 extra in the UK. You should also be OK with winter or all weather tyres of the acceptable size without telling anyone. What to avoid is to do something like having a staggered setup between front and back wheels which some 3 series fanatics do. TT |

Supposedly the X2 summer updates include a few new wheel designs. Unfortunately the configurator in the few countries i checked does not yet reflect this (or the larger screen for navigation pro). But looking at the facelifted X1, it now has the option for non rft with 19" wheels for the same price as the rft, so i am hoping this will also be the case for the x2.
If anyone has some info on this would be much appreciated, as i read new X2 orders are already being booked for July build, including the updates. I may also opt for standard suspension instead of m sport (you can delete msport suspension even though you pay the same) or the adjustable dampers, but have not decided yet. |

Wish the X2's grills were vertically smaller (more in line with the headlamps). I think they're too big, and unfortunately that's the way BMW's styling seems to be heading. Just look at the monster grills on the X7!!

How have owners found the wind noise on X2s? Mine is okay until 100kmh (60mph). THen I hear increasing amounts of wind roar on driver's side.
Perhaps the huge door mirrors? Surely BMW has had mirrors on their cars for just a few years now.. And they still can't do anything about the noise? It's not a hissing, but a lower-pitch blustery noise, so i don't think it's a wind 'leak'. The door seals and window rubbers are well sealed. The mirrors seem tight without any gaps.

I feel the same too, satz.
I feel it around 80kph and more. Not really annoyed me, but since you mentioned it, Im aware now. Its more noticeable when I'm cruising above 70kph but with sunroof open. |

Wind noise is not an issue for me. (knock on wood) It's certainly there if you try to listen for it, but it's not any worse than 90% of cars/suvs on the road. When I test drove the M35i and G20 330xi back to back, I didn't notice a huge difference. If you are sensitive to wind noise, you need to be looking at mid- to full-size luxury vehicles.
With regards to RFTs, I think roadside assistance and the proliferation of Uber/Lyft/Etc has made these tires somewhat obsolete. Last edited by King_Leonard; 09-11-2019 at 02:54 PM.. |

X3 is stupid quiet. We make the underbody panels and wheel arch liners at my company, they’re super pricey and exclusive to Bmw and Mercedes for now. I can say it works.

This is not relevant to people in the States who only seem to buy the top of the range X2 but I've now done 2.500 miles in my July registered 2.0i SE X2 Xdrive with 17 inch wheels.
No run flats, no noise, no firm ride and rides more plushly than my old 330D M sport (from 2016) on the motorway. |

I don't find the runflats in my m35i anything bad or good. I also don't get road noise. The loaner X3, however, is much more solid and quiet. When I switch my wife's X1 over to winter non runflats the performance/ride is improved, not night and day but a little nicer to me that I will probably go with regular tires when the time comes for me.
