Going on a cruise from Spain, to Italy, then France, how worried should I be?

From the Coronavirus/Covid-19?

We bought tickets months ago. We leave in May from FL for a 5-day cruise, I've never been on a cruise in my life and I tend to get seasick too...

Do you have young kids?

I don't know, I'd be concerned to be honest. But we also have young kids and we are going to wait a month and see how this shakes out but might be cancelling our flight to Calgary in May if this blows up.

No kids, just me and my gf (we're mid-30s, healthy). Good luck!

I was supposed to leave for Germany next Tuesday and they cancelled our trade show due to concerns. It seems excessive, but I understand that no promotion wants to be the one that the "outbreak" can be tracked back to in you country. I was not worried at all - I am a healthy adult with a fully functions immune system. I always bring hand sanitizer to shows and bought a small pack of disinfecting wipes for tables and chairs as a extra precaution, but the thought of not going never entered my mind.

My biggest fear if I were you? Everyone else panicking and you getting stuck with flight cancellations or ship quarantine or some such stuff.

Now I am stuck trying to get refunds on $13K of flights, $4K of hotels, yada, yada, yada from this which is frustrating to say the least.

All this fear mongering is getting insane, but you can easily get caught in it without being apart of it. Warm weather is the best medicine for viruses, so the warmer it gets the more it should stall out.

Regardless of actually getting sick, are you prepared to be stuck on said ship for weeks at a time if the quarantine it?

My guess is they will reschedule the trip. This has been happening to a lot of my friends and family that have trips planned for overseas this spring/summer.

The main part would be quarantine or denied entry back to the US if the situation gets worse. Friend and I have a trip booked to Vietnam transiting through Seoul next month (1 day layover in VN). When we booked it nothing was wrong. While Vietnam is absolutely fine (some friends just came back 2 weeks ago), South Korea had become a cesspool in the last week. While we’re not worried about getting sick and dying since we’re also in our 30’s and healhy, it’s the extra days or weeks from work and the hassle if somehow we end up in quarantine or something else.

It’s been frustrating trying to see if Korean Air would allow free cancellation so we can get this over with. At the moment we’re giving up a few other intra-Asia flights that we booked. If it comes down to it we’ll just bite the bullet and pay the cancellation for Korean Air as well. The $700 or so fee is probably not worth the hassle should the above happen. Colleague canceled a flight to Singapore for a wedding this week for the same reasons. My boss has a trip in May to Italy and she’s worried about it too.

All fake stuff. They should talk about the other viruses that kill in the thousands of people more a month. This is business and they will make billions soon. Its the same thing as the late 2000's people were going to the hospital to get the flu shot and they were making crazy money. That's why they're panicking everybody.
God says he knows the day when you're going to die, so why worry about it? live the life for God and be ready to meet him any day.

My boss flew last week to visit his family in Malta. Not sure if he went through Italy on the way or when he comes back next week.

I'm actually surprised he went. He catches respiratory "bugs" all the time....I hope he just stays in his office awhile when he gets back which is on the other side of the plant from me.

Cruises can be great if used correctly. I did a carribbean cruise and it was awesome since you could island hop each day.
To the OP, I reckon you should be fine as long as you avoid the problem areas and I would assume they'd check the passengers temperatures before boarding.

my wife was going to book for our summer vacation but last night she ask me if we should still book it now, given all that going on.

personally i'm not too scared of it, even we have young kids, looks like risky group is elderly with pre-conditions.

i think i'm going to wait a little bit, if the panic deepen, then we should be able to get cheaper flights / accomodation... if it doesn't than it is just business as usual...

Not a fan of the idea and this is without even taking Coronavirus into consideration. And 5 days doesnt sound like enough for even 1 country without the travel time.

Much better idea is to fly, rent a car, and drive to different places

I just (within minutes) received an email from our company that we are ceasing all international travel until further notice.

I would not worry about it and just go on your vacation. I think the news is pushing their own agenda which is to hope the coronavirus will tank the worlds economy and get Trump out of office somehow. Your greatest risk is somehow being quarantined.
