DINAN Tunes

So I just finished up all the mods I want to do my car:
DINAN Tune: DINANTRONICS SPORT PERFORMANCE TUNER
Full Supersprint catback (Racing)
AFE Intake System
FTP boost, inlet, intake and charge pipes.
Brembo brakes.

Going to get H&R lowering springs with Bilstein b8 when suspension change is do.

But anyway I just noticed that DINAN released their new tune for X1 28I. The DINANTRONICS X. Kind of bummed because I just got the sport performance tuner version before the new one came out.

It reads that the tune I have gives up to +30 HP and +40 lb-ft.
The new Dinantronics X gives +38 HP and +57 lb-ft TRQ.

The price difference is $360. My question: Is the upgrade really worth the 8 HP and 17 TQ gain for the price?

I think the best option is to make a proper ECU tune/flash. So with that, I got +80hp.

So, IMO, it doesn't make sense to pay an extra $360 for 8hp more.

I'm curious, what did you do with your brakes? Did you change the calipers?

BTW, get the lowered springs ASAP! Haha. It really transforms the ride into a much more capable car. However, it would be best to change the wheels, at least the tires, for better performance/grip.

Just the guy I want to hear from

What ECU tunes do you recommend? Only thing is I am a little scared of those tunes that give super amounts of HP gains because I keep my cars forever, don't want to put stress too much on the engine; thus why I picked DINAN.

That's what I thought, Not really worth the money at all.

For the brakes just got the standard pads and rotors they have on the site. I feel like its kind of over kill for me to the big brake kits since I live in DC (Its a small city).

Changed the wheels already, you gave me advice on that a while ago on a different thread . Definitely will do it sooner then!

Well, it's undeniable that you put some extra stress on the engine with a tune. But, at the same time, it's known that these engines came detuned. BMW and Mini use this engine with higher HP and torq configurations.

On the other hand, you aren't putting a lot of load on the engine. I mean, no crazy things like methanol, just squeezing a little extra HPs. So, IMO, it's safe to have an ECU tune with those numbers (~80hp).

I installed my ECU tune directly with a BMW dealer, and I'm pretty sure they installed a Mini JCW tune. The X1 is easy to program using the ODB2 port. I heard great things about https://www.autotuner-tool.com/en/. The bottom line, choose a well-known tuner to avoid any trouble. I'm afraid I don't know many tuner in the US.

Don't you believe me or what? Haha.

Anyway, I mentioned this before. I installed mine directly with the BMW dealer, and I strongly believe they flashed a JCW tune. Check the pics from the dyno run. I got 271hp to the wheels with a stock air filter and running 91 oct gasoline. So now, with all the mods, it should be a little higher.

Stock comes with 192hp (EU version). That's enough proof to me . But you can search the internet for stock dyno tests if you like.

The 192 hp is what it is known as, in other words, its minimum. Most engines create more bhp than what is stated as standard.
You could have been lucky and had 200bhp before having a tune.

Maybe, maybe not. Either way, it's at least a +70hp gain. I'm really happy with it, and that's all it matters .

I have a programmer who flashes the ECU with a canned tune (generic tune made for the X1. He also programs the ECU for all sorts of other features that you guys here are all familiar with so I don't need to elaborate. I have more HP and TQ than stock: I have a BMS intake with a Canadian X1 from 2018/19 that has the 2 liter turbo...the Canadian version has options that were not available in the USA: such as Executive option which added thicker glass and tinted windows all around including darker ones in the back. The thicker glass is for a quieter ride. I'm on 19" Niche aftermarket summer wheels with bigger performance tires. I also have a custom sound system....and lots of extras inside my car. My software cost $250 for the customization and $300 for the ECU engine tune. $550 Can...you heard it here....Canadian dollars...this was done 3 years ago...
