Engine Vibration Prt 2

Hi All!

So about a year later now @ 60K on my 2016 X1 I am getting some vibration. It's not major, but there is certainly a difference. Took it to the dealer who blamed it on using 89 octane gas (the min spec) and their recommendation was to switch to 91 (shell-vpower) which I did but there has been no real improvement. Furthermore Just did an oil change using 0w-20 (last time the 5w-40 had been an issue).

Any thoughts? Internet says injectors/spark plugs may be an issue. However did the 55 point inspection at dealer and nothing else came up.

Ideas?

Hi there! Could you be more specific with "some vibration?" Where and when do you feel it?

Some notes about maintenance
If you used low-quality gas, I would put something like these to clean the combustion (one at a time):
  1. https://www.amazon.com/-/en/Limpiado...dp/B00CPL8PSG/
  2. https://www.amazon.com/-/en/Limpiado...dp/B003U4RS1M/
If you had problems with the oil, I would renew it by doing some cleaning first: https://www.amazon.com/-/en/Liqui-Mo...dp/B0096Y6VBS/

And then, when putting new oil, add this to make things smoother: https://www.amazon.com/-/en/Liqui-Mo...dp/B001CZODH8/

After changing the oil, I would replace the sparks too. Check the air filter as well. If it's filthy, replace it.

Other things to check
  1. I would see if the engine mounts are ok.
  2. What about wheel alignment?

I have a vibration only at idle. Very faint, almost sounds like plastic clanging. It’s not noticeable when moving or if the climate control is on. I’m leaning towards something with the belt, there’s a service bulletin that’s somewhat similar. Anyone have a similar issue?

I had a very similar problem on my 2016 x1. I used the recommended oil 0w-20 (Penzoil) and the vibrations started. It also threw some codes. After scrolling through the forums I ended up switching to 0w-30 (Mobil Euro) and it solved the issue. 0w-20 was way too thin apparently (I live in FL). Good luck!
