Avin 10.25" Navigation ordered!

Hi All,

I've decided to keep my 2017 X1 as used car prices are out of the roof around New England/ Boston area.

So 6.5" screen is small and doesn't look good. I'm not technical in cars, just installed Harman Kardon Amp and all speakers on my own.

Hope AVIN navigation is good or at least better than 8.8 BMW original screen.

I look forward to reading how the install went and hopefully seeing some pics of the new 10.25 screen. I found the upgrade from 6.5 to 8.8” made a huge difference in improving the quality feel and driving experience (on 8.8” the nav split screen with junction/lane graphics is worth upgrade alone) so 10.25 should be impressive. Access to all those android apps will be fun also. Good luck

I will update here.

I guess Android side sound doesn't work if you don't run AUX cable from new screen to your car's AUX

I have a 2017 X1 and upgraded the screen to the Avin 10.25 unit. I had the 8" non touch screen originally. I never ran aux and I have sound from the android unit. I purchased the unit in June. Couple of issues. The placement of the SD/SIM slots are awful. They could have created a tray that slide out of the bezel like they do with phones. The unit doesn't recognize an SD card any longer. It was working great and that is how I listened to my music library. Then all of a sudden it stopped working Tried reformatting the SD card, tried several card no dice. I have enough space on the internal memory but it a PITA to get the music on it. I hope they improve these areas. It's still an upgrade and would recommend with those reservations.

I finally finished installing - BMW has a terrible fixability, the cables behind the radio dash are very short!

It is giant improvement that every BMW owner should do it! I feel like driving a different car.

I updated Esys code to have 10.25 screen that enables "Split Screen" function in iDrive system. Sometimes radio stops when the rear camera kicks in and Spotify pauses playing in iDrive screen.

However screen mirroring with iPhone is very handy that you don't need anything else.
