No problem, let me fill you in:

Capacity and still fun to drive. In many cases, just as much as any "sports car". Having your cake and eating it too.

The utility of a hatch is awesome. Most of the world realizes this. Even SUVs have hatchbacks.

People buy hatches/wagons to put their dogs in. It’s just a taller roof, it’s not like people are stacking legos. It’s not that impressive. SUV’s can have third row and tow items. They have utility. Hatch’s have “cool” while I have my k9 in tow being thrown around.

Good luck having your SUV handle like a Golf R.

when supply meets demand. right now there is a shortage, especially one in electronics/chips.

The demand for buying a new car or just driving in general wasn't very high when everything was shut down and people worked from home. i'm sure alot households downsized at that time. parents told their 16 year olds there is no need to buy a car with online learning in place. and now the floodgates are opening with asses wanting seats.

Most people arent tossing their SUV around corners @ 60 MPH.
That could be said for hatches too.

My car goes X on the Nurburgring doesnt mean a thing when your commute to work doesnt see anything over 40mph.

Garage List
Kia is having a serious parts problem. I have a Telluride, and it is a very good vehicle for the unmarked up price. Unfortunately we had a minor fender bender in Feb that required us to replace the front bumper and grill. The grill has been on back order for 3 months. The vehicle shown here has the Nightfall package (which we have too, black grill and trim) and there are very few of them left for sale. It was a popular car before the parts shortage and now they are not building as many.

$79K for a Telluride is just insane. Why would someone not just get a GV80/X5/GLE at this point?

My wife recently bought a Telluride for over MSRP a few months ago (not 15k thank God, but still a few grand over MSRP nonetheless). Have two kids and recently found out we were having twins and needed more space than our Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography would provide. My wife test drove all the cars in the segment that people have listed above, and STILL preferred the Telluride. Ours is the fully loaded "SX Prestige" with the Nightfall package similar to the one above. It's nice and you can get it fully loaded for more or less half the price of an X7 (which I was pushing for), but I still don't understand the fascination with them. On a side note, it's impressive how far some of the "bargain" brands have come, especially Kia/Hyundai/Genesis. My only qualm with it, is the engine. It's a bit underpowered IMO. Could also be the fact that we were coming from a 500+ hp RRSS. She loves it so that's all that matters to me, and we essentially traded our RRSS in on it 1:1 with the inflated used car market at the moment.

No, it can't. Hatches are just as capable as sedans with the same suspension, engine, etc. That's why the person bought the hatch, to not have to sacrifice the traits of a sedan.

We were looking at Telluride about a year ago, and the same situation happened. No one had a Telluride on their lot, especially the SX trim (their highest trim level). Just about every dealer was asking $15K markup and they were sold before hitting the lot.

So... we ended up with a nice X7. After discount and incentive, we weren't too far off the marked up Telluride price

The Telluride is closer to the X5 than X7... It's 3 inches longer than an X5, but still far from a full-size 3rd row. Telluride vs X5 for nearly the same price? You must be joking. New X5s are still available at 10% off MRSP in some markets. Low 60s with some options. Even lower if you can find a loaner.

I think a lot of people assume the BMW/MB/Audi/etc in the same segment costs way more just due to the brand name. If you just look at the national "offers" listed on their websites, you would come to that conclusion. But if you take the time to research what's actually possible, you wouldn't be one of those people paying BMW money for an Acura/Infiniti, or worse. People are getting Accords for over $500/month nowadays... Much worse market than sub-$500 loaner 530i days, but come on.

If the deals shared on Leasehackr aren't too far apart, then people are absolutely walking into dealerships and signing for much, much higher payments on 'lower tier' brands. To be completely fair, many of the higher end deals are sweetened by loyalty, but it's not much in many cases. Only $500 on a 330i this month, for example. Even at $1,500, $500/year more on a BMW vs a lesser brand is a very comparable cost... but the cars are not nearly as close. I don't think the cost to insure is that far apart.

Disagree with the first paragraph, we've had 7 adults in our telluride and it was comfortable. Passenger volume of the x5 is 103cubic ft, passenger volume of the telluride of 155cubit ft. The x7 has less passenger volume, 143cubic ft.

Anyways, happy I got mine for MSRP - only had to travel close to 700miles each way to do so lmao!

Meh, come to a smaller market.

The local Kia dealer has 2 Tellurides both at MSRP, as far as I can tell.

https://www.kiaoflansing.com/new/Kia...21e727de05.htm

https://www.kiaoflansing.com/new/Kia...83b58a7825.htm

Hell, you could probably get it shipped to wherever you are for <$1K.
