Your car looks fantastic! The wheels completely transform the look. Nice to get rid of that gap between fender and wheel (both horizontally and vertically!)

Pretty sure I've decided on 20x8.5 ET42 square Konig Oversteer. Gonna go with an H&R sport spring as well.

Yes. Worked well on my 335is. That wheel and tire setup was perfect. Speedo is off some when going with a different overall diameter but oh well.

This thread might be helpful. Just ignore the UK pricing.

Which springs did you go with? I just ordered the H&R sports. Gonna see how they look with the stock wheels before I splurge for the 20" wheels.

Ordered eibach, seen people complaining that H&R is "too sporty". I just want them lowered and a little bit better handling but not as stiff as a pure M Sport suspension.

Not using spacers. I honestly don't remember, don't even have the papers anymore. I scraped it quite a bit before getting used to it tho.

The 405m's must be aftermarket since OEM is 5x120, no?
For aftermarket, what width rims and offset did you go with? Looks to be 8.5 x ET35?

I was in the market for aftermarket rims when I first purchased my X1. I didn't like the look of the OEM rims at first. Then I decided to just paint them instead. Now I like the look of them, and it was way cheaper than purchasing and installing new rims.
