Switch from M2 to m3?

I have test driven the M2 and I'm #3 at my local dealer but my sales rep can't provide any update on allocations or if it will even be a MY16 order. I'm now leaning toward a M3 for the 4dr ride. Loss of maintenance benefit in MY17?
Don't have any experience with the M3 and I know the M2 is a beast..was hoping for some feedback on whether to stick with the #3 spot and wait it out or drop the hammer on ordering a M3..
Thanks to all

For me I'd go m3. The m2 is impressive don't get me wrong and for value for money performance and driving pleasure it's hard to beat. However to me, and this is subjective it sits closer to the m235/M135 than a true Mcar (which it is of course) and this bugs me.
From the outside its all there, flared arches, muscular looks etc and ticks all the boxes. My issue is the interior. The seats are nothing special the lack of driver selectable modes bugs me and it just feels like a less exciting place so sit than an m3 (I've got an M4 but basically the same). Luckily the m2 wasn't out when I bought mine or I admit I would have been tempted by the cheaper prospect and may have gone that route but I miss say I'm very happy with my choice and look forward to driving it every day.
Whatever you choose good luck and I hope the wait passes quickly, but it won't.... Sorry lol

M2 and M3 are both great cars and I have to agree with Jimbooo about the interior. It's personal preference but the interior of the M3 with full leather is a much nicer place to be. That said it depends on what you want out of the car. The M2 will be rarer and probably better on the track, while the M3 is more luxurious and practical. I've driven both and preferred the M3. I liked the extra power.

Fwiw I had an M2 on order and switched to M3. Couldn't be happier with my choice.

I highly doubt you will regret going the m3 route. My m4 was my first M car and I've owned it for close to 7 months now. Still get excited to drive it.

Not a surprise here that most will say M3 (including me). If you can afford the extra cash the m3 is a special car. If it's a track weapon maybe go M2.

Feels like the M3 is the more sophisticated car vs the M2...both great cars, but for me when I order later this year, the M3 will be sitting in my garage.

Garage List
I find the M2 a little small for a daily driver personally. And I do agree that the nicer interior in the F8X is good to have.

I drove both the M2 and M3 at the performance center in SC a month back. The M2 is a good car, fast and tossable on a short track. For me I think it will make a great autoX car. But from pure driver enjoyment and capability I was blown away by the M3 with its power and handling on a closed course. After that day, budget not being an issue I have no doubt about how great M3 is over the M2 but again that's just my opinion. These were non ZCP cars. I can just guess how awesome the ZCP M3 would be. I spoke to a few instructors as well and they preferred the M3 over the M2 but either way You can't go wrong with either.

Uh oh. When the M2 folks get in here they are going to be all over you for saying this.
