ALMS at Nurburgring? I thought it was the American Lemans Series.

EDIT: I see you meant VLN.

That's not an ALMS race that would have been a VLN race

Can someone please explain the graffi the Nurburgring always has on it? I've always found that extremely strange. When would someone get access to the track and why would they do that?

I believe drivers/teams set markers on the track during training indicating when to break/gas etc...

guessing here

Hey i go a few times a year to the nurburgring. Too look for cool cars and to drive the northsleife myself. The track is so big thats it cant be locked. Everywhere you can go thrue holes in fences or just step over a lower fence or guardrails. So at night people paint on the track. It has become sort of tradition. They always do laps to be sure its secure before they open it for the public.
I hope i explained it good.

Greetz.

I'm assuming this version is faster than the ALMS one, since it doesn't have the homo ALMS restrictions on air, etc..

Scudera paints them and trains by using the turn-in apex markings but they are very tiny compared to the graffitti. And the markings are only on some corners, but they help TREMENDOUSLY. The pros will tell you that you should gas/brake, turn-in about 4ft prior to or after those markings when going full speed. I haven't gotten that far yet.

I wish i would have left a mark. I'm sure I left enough rubber though.

Thanks! Strange tradition, but that explains it.

VLN also has restrictors, One of The ALMS cars will be there at the end of the month to participate and will require some adjustments secondary to the different rules. It will be run by Schnitzer, the other GT2 car will be heading to Asia and campaigned there by Rahal Letterman.

This weekend the ALMS cars will be at Leguna Seca, the final race in the US for the season.

Jaguar will debut their new car in the race which will compete next year and it
looks to be be quite a good setup as well.

i think its just a practice lap or something because in the vln race i dont think you see regular mitsubishi's racing in a controlled racing race... but none of the less its good to see the m3 and hear its exhaust

Very nice outside pass on that Porsche. Wish I lived near the ring. I mean I have Whatkins Glen, but common, nothing compares to the Green Hell

Sounds awesome! I'd be surprised if this was actual race footage tho as there were several street cars out on track as well as an old e36 race car. The P-car that got passed also looked to be a bit older that what is currently being raced by professional teams.

All the cars I saw were VLN cars? They do race pretty much everything.

You can race anything pretty much as long as you pass the safety requirements. I have seen 1ers, civics, golfs, etc. Their practicing only allows the same cars as the race does. They close the track to others.
