split screen, map on right
Dad just took delivery of his X1.
Not sure if I'm just going crazy or not.. but are you not able to place the navigation map on the right side of the split screen? Checking the online manual http://cache.bmwusa.com/pdf_97e07fe7...5-a74e24268f1e page 24 clearly shows Map facing North, directional of travel, or perspective view. Only options he has are located on the attached picture. It's one of the things I enjoy in my F30. It's a Canadian X1, fully loaded. Can anyone clarify what's going on? Thanks in advance.

That is one of many features they removed from I drive/nav on the X1. Guess they dumbed it down so X1 owners are reminded they bought an entry level BMW. Have a 2015 F32 and am noticing more and more missing features in the X1. And hey, how about those standard halogen headlamps. Talk about ancient technology. In the US you have to spend $3,250 to get decent headlamps.

I had it set up like that in my F56 mini (pro nav "XL") and was disappointed they removed the ability in the F48. As you can in a mini I don't think it's because it's entry level BMW I think it's just the new software. I expect the next 3er to have the same functionality

Agreed but what you are suggesting is that the F48 has a dumbed down system versus the F56 Mini Cooper too?
My hypothesis is that the newer system doesn't have this feature and instead prefers map on the left (main screen) and aux data on the right such as artist. Until they launch the next 3er we won't know |

I was surprised by the lack of temperature gauge, until discovered that you can get one in the multi-display (BC). However, I'd rather have a proper one instead of the mpg meter: the range and average fuel consumption displays are interesting, a gauge that tells you that the car uses more fuel the harder you press the accelerator seems a bit redundant.

Thanks everyone. It is pretty disappointing. It's strange that it's listed in the manual as well. Wouldn't mind radio on the right if only you had the ability to scroll through the list to select stations/music, etc. It boggles my mind as to what BMW is thinks when they do things like this.
