Congrats and glad the wait is over. Look forward to seeing some pics.
Even after 3 months of ownership, driving it is still a real pleasure. It just seems to get better. |

Congratulations also, ttimbo.
I'm also about to pull the trigger on the same vehicle combo, including specifying 18" wheels for the same reasons you did. I will also be interested in your feeling re the ride in due course. |

When you opt for the 18s which style do they give you?

Some pics, as promised:
(NB: colours seem to change a bit between what I upload, and how they are presented in the forum....there's a strange yellow tinge that isn't there in the...er...flesh!) I've also tried to show as best as possible the Mocha upholstery, and the fine line wood trim. It looks really classy, IMHO.

congrats, nice pics.... the yellow tint looks like an issue with white balance, not sure where it comes in though, either when shot or during upload.... Enjoy the drive... (only 2 months to go for me)

Awesome looking car.
Love the look of the Matt wood. Wish I could have got that as an option! |

Very nice looking car, ttimbo! I like the alloy design too, and the interior colour combo is very classy. You have Euro-size plates by the looks of it? Do they need a backing plate or adaptor to fit?

Are you able to verify if you can get the speed limit shown on the HUD in the aus spec cars?

So, today has been the first real test of Boris, our just christened X1. About 500k of B - D class roads, including some unsealed, loose dirt. Gone is the "new car look", but no dust came in, which is great.
The car performed flawlessly. I'm seriously impressed! I'd dampened my expectations, given reports about road noise and harsh ride. But there's none of it -- it seemed to ride and be as quiet as the X5 3.0d I had for a week recently. The (sports) seats are marvelous, too -- not as much side thigh support as my M135i, but then Boris isn't going to a race track ( nor is the M135 venturing on roads like today's) Performance is excellent, too -- even though I'm moderating things for the first 1,500k. Fuel economy is reading 8.5L/100k, which is high...but the motor is tight. Today's temps were around 30C, and the a/c kept us cool (or cold, says my wife -- the absence of the mixer control for the vents common on every other beemer I've owned will be missed. Two words: seriously impressed! (dirty picture to come! ) |

I have 18in rims and Continental contiwinter contact ts830 ssr runflat tyres. As I am just about to switch to summer tyres, I am considering non runflat tyres also based on a number of posts on this and other forums. What rim and tyres brand/model do you have? Thank you in advance! |

Hi simorag, I was quite worried about road noise after reading test reports, and even found it a bit of an issue with the test drives I had, for this reason, I downsized to 18" wheels from the std 19" offered on the 25i in Australia. The car has come fitted with Pirelli P7 RFTs. If noise becomes a problem, my next step is to change to non RFTs, but so far so good.
My F20 is a M135i, which has Michelin PSS non RFTs. Very noisy but it has...er...redeeming qualities. Actually, the ride and road noise issue, or lack there of in my car makes me wonder if BMW has made in-line product improvements to this car after 6 mths production.
