2020 X1 with Old Production Date

Hello everyone. I'm in Canada and about to order a 2020 X1. I'm wondering what's the difference between MY2020 and MY2021? Also, is it OK to take a existing car with relatively old production date (Jan-March 2020)? Is there anything I need to pay attention to?

The BMW Canada press site and configurator haven't been updated with the MY2021 X1 info yet, so your best bet is to check with your dealer for a copy of the order guide. I suspect any differences will be minimal, but you'll get a better deal on the MY2020, so if you can find one on a lot that has the specs you're looking for, or close enough, you may want to jump on it regardless of production date.

A factory order didn't suit our timeline, so we had to search dealer inventory when we were shopping last summer. Settled for our third choice exterior colour, but got the interior and almost every feature we wanted. My suggestion is to go Premium Enhanced and make sure it doesn't have sport seat delete -- trust me, you want the sport seats, but our experience was that a lot of dealers order inventory cars without them.

I believe they removed the LED fog lights from the bumper which I have noticed on the US configurator for the X1 and X2. I faintly remember reading something about revising the headlights to accommodate for that, but don't remember seeing any specific details of that though.

No change to the fog lights, at least on Canadian cars. The above ordering guide is US-specific, but based on what I found on a dealer invoice pricing site, for Canada the changes from MY2020 to MY2021 are minor price changes (except for the Dakota leather option, which goes from $950 to $1500... yikes); some colour changes; and the Premium Package Essential loses the heated steering wheel and power-folding/autodimming mirrors (although you can pay extra to add them back in).
