X2 M35i 20" Tire Question

Just curious what tires comes on the 20's from the factory? I'm assuming they are worthless in the winter? I'm considering trading my X1 in for the X2 M35i. It just has to make sense. Thanks guys!

I'm curious if it's a must to have winter tires. Thanks

Id assume it's all dealer specific.. it would be easier for you to call/go to your dealer. They put all season pirelli's on all the cars here. I believe mine were cintauro's? Good enough for my first winter, but here in new england I always get dedicated winters eventually.

Must have is all up to you... I know plenty of people who think all season's are good enough.

My 2.8 came with Pirelli P-Zero RFT. They are absolutely not winter tires.

The 20's come with Pirelli Nero performance tires in a unique size runflat. There is actually no other tire on the market as an exact size replacement. They are useless in cold and snow. You'd best be buying an extra set of 19" rims and higher-profile tires.

One possible advantage of ordering the 20's is that you get a 155mph top speed due to the tire rating. The 19's factory-limit you to 130. If that's a concern.

Just as an aside, I acquired an M35i with 20's on last week and it came with Goodyear F1 run flats which are...not very good.

So there are now two 225/40/R20 options and...yeah.

What size are they? I just looked on tirerack and it's still showing only the p-Zero.

I put 255/35/20 Michelin All Seasons on mine and it handles the winter weather like a champ.

Same...225/40 R20. Not only are they not on the 'Rack, they're not even on the Goodyear website in that size. I feel like a frickin' Unicorn.

I'm tempted to keep them on for a bit just to review them.

That's good news, this is probably the route I'll take, and put the Goodyears in storage. Thanks again for your input!

That's unfortunate that they limit the car with the non 20" wheel option. That being said, this car does not inspire confidence at 130 so it's probably better that way lol

Any issues with rubbing in this tire size? I am thinking of doing the same thing.

The tires have a small offset so it's pretty far from the strut..and the wheel wells are huge so they certainly don't bottom out. Hard lock to lock steering also does not rub at all.

mine came with Goodyear, 225/40R20, 94Y. Made in Germany.
Very odd size as I search for tires here locally, all 40R20 are like 235 and above. Only found 1 out of 200 listing to be 225 which is Pirelli Zero.

I've had my wife's M35i up to 140 MPH on the autobahn and was surprised at how well it handled that speed.

No issues with rubbing or hitting anything? Does it throw an error of any sort due to a difference in wheel circumference? If none, then I guess safe to assume no issues with a 235/40 20

Did you put the same size 255/35 on?

TIA guys

Does that mean the wheels stick out further? Sorry, not familiar with offsets. I get confused lol

Any issues with rubbing or hitting on the suspension or the car throwing error codes? TIA
