Creaking/Binding noise

Hey everyone, just picked up my 2017 X1 on Saturday. Currently sitting at 300 miles on the odometer. Loving the vehicle so far but there is one odd thing that I'm wondering if it's normal. When I shift the car from park to reverse while still using light brake pressure I hear a binding or creaking while the X1 is under load, and is a little more prominent if I turn the wheel lock to lock.

Once I take my foot off the brake no more noise. Also appears to be worse when I'm on an incline, but I notice it mostly in my garage in the morning when I leave and my garage is level. No other creaking or binding noise is present when driving, turning, going over bumps etc. This seems to be an issue only when going from park to reverse under full or light brake pressure. I swung by the dealer this morning and of course I couldn't reproduce it but they didn't seem concerned and told me to put some additional miles on it and if it is still persistent they would take a look at it. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing anything similar. I don't remember hearing anything like this on my two previous 3's so I'm a little perplexed. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Maybe just the car straining against the brakes ?

The creep speed of the X1 is pretty high (speed it moves when you let go of the brake and dont push the throttle at all) so it does strain against the brakes a bit when standing still in D or R.

Cold brakes at startup may make a bit more of a noise, while not so much after they have warmed up with you driving

I hope that is the case. I wouldn't expect bad bushings or tierods with a brand new car but stranger things have happened. My 2015 328 was repurchased for subframe issues at 500 miles so anything is possible!!

Anyone else having this issue. I think I'm going to need to take it back in for service. It's so loud and very annoying. When the e-brake is on with the car in reverse it does not do it but as soon as I apply the brakes with the e-brake on the sound returns so I'm thinking it may be brake related and not suspension related, but what do I know...ha

See if you can capture it on video with your phone.

Incase you cannot reproduce it again at the dealer

I have the same problem. Vehicle makes grinding noises in reverse on cold-start. Had video evidence and brought to dealership, but they didn't fix it and offered no explanation. Unbelievable. There's another thread on this forum that explains it's likely a manufacturer's defect on the rear brake pads overlapping the outer rotor edge causing rubbing.

So they are saying this is normal? I have a video as well. Is there any way to attach the videos so we can compare?

Hey all dropped the X1 off at the dealer and they think I'm having issues with the front struts so I'll keep everyone updated on their findings.

X1 is new having 1300km mileage:

1) gasoline engine sounds like diesel
2) when switching R shift, the engine moves and annoying noise appears (in reality the noise is louder than on the video)

Update on grinding noises?

My 2018 has been making this same grinding noise while in Reverse coming off an incline (my driveway) first thing in the morning. I think Ive narrowed it down to it only happening when something is wet? Seems to happen when it has rained or snowed overnight. Even if I let off the brake, it still makes the grinding noise until I stop and put it in Drive.

Once I drive off, it is fine for the rest of the day. Just not sure if I need to let the car warm up first or if there is an issue that needs to be addressed. No car should be making this noise...ever!
