Winter snow and ice and X1 wiper system joy

Hey ... what do you folks do to try and clean the snow, ice and s**t from underneath the wipers? What a foobar setup. There is no way that I have found so far that allows me to lift up the wipers to clean things out well. Any tricks you fella snow folks have found?

Need to put wipers in service mode. With door closed, push engine start button once WITHOUT pressing brake pedal then push it again to turn off. Then, immediately press down on wiper stalk. The blades should come out into a vertical position after holding it for a few seconds. After cleaning, turn ignition/car on and press stalk down again to return to normal operating position.

The owners manual will have the specific step by step, too.

Do the Hokie pokie and wave your wipers about. Nice process.

Agreed. Cleaning the windshield with wipers in normal position on my first car wash was an annoying struggle. Got quite frustrated with the terrible design until I came across the service mode setting.
