Lower Stock Intake Box Valve
billnchristy Since you have your Lower Stock Intake Box off of the car, can you take a picture of what is behind the box (i.e. if it were installed, towards the back of the box facing the firewall, but turn around facing the box).
I would really like to see picture under and the side of what this valve is. There appears to be metal in it like a spring, but very curious. Thanks in advance! XC8 |

This is the emergency relief valve, sometimes called a "snow valve". It's designed to stay closed unless the filter becomes completely clogged, then it opens to admit air. Basically, you never want it to do this.
Notice how there's a small section of the filter protected by the inner channel? That's the clean spot, just in case. |

Yes I thought I put up a picture somewhere when I took apart my box. That's the only "clean" part of the filter and it just leads into the engine bay. Same relief valve and location on the X1 as well..
