On call with Dinan NOW.

Out of curiousity...

What 'Select Model' did you use? BMW B48/B58 OR MINI B38/B48 - in the app?

I used BMW B48/B58 despite the sticker on the product saying BMW / MINI B38/B48.

Gonna be honest. I even missed that selection. Just ran downstairs to check for you and my defaulted to B48/58

Wow that's very surprising since it's connected to the tmap and just needs to fool it into higher boost. I wonder if it's the ecu that is seeing some kind of over boost still and not letting it go higher.

Going back out for the drive, using a different map.

Stay tuned!

Let's see if this one works...

TakeOne - What is the part number of the device you ordered?

Seems like there is two: both cross over with B48. The one I got is posted in the pictures. The map I was using is supposedly for a different part number. So I am going to try the other map out to see what happens.

Max PSI is 3 - confirmed from Dinan.

Engineers working on this while I try a different map.

I'm confused now. I see the one I ordered is no longer "available"....? It was Dinan D440-0047. Can you ask them why there are two different part numbers for the same engines?

also in either car selection when watching boost in dinan map, max is 14.59 and when I turn the slider bar off and go to other obd2 app it shows 22.8 stock so something is definitely off with the Dinan.

For now, I have removed this Dinan product from my vehicle. Awaiting to hear back from Dinan on resolution of 'how to make it work' or 'logistics for sending it back to them and getting my money back' Definitely, not happy.

Sorry to here this man. Definitely not how this should have played out. I'm wondering if they thought that an M35i would automatically be compatible just cause it's the "same engine" as their other listed models. Something is definitely out of whack though...

Adam over at Dinan seemed cool. But the Dinan of now, is definitely not the Dinan I remember of yesteryear.

I think all of this is a bunch of crap.

Emailed Terry at Burger and probably going that route.

Let's see of Dinan can come up with a solution. I doubt it.

just fyi, i'm having some pretty major problems with the jb4, so i wouldn't expect that to be smooth sailing either...

i'm not going to publicly post what's going on yet as i'm also waiting to hear back on a resolution regarding the problems i'm facing, but the usability and performance are limited to say the least.

Perhaps best of all, the unit automatically detects which engine it is installed upon and loads the appropriate mapping. Effectively making a single unit compatible with an extremely wide range of applications making switching to a new vehicle, sharing with another, or selling the unit a breeze.

mine didn't do this via software

And the sticker on my unit is from Oct 2018 and the packaging Aug 2020. Talked to Dinan about this too.

I've been following all of this for a while now...since we had folks here experimenting with Dinan and Burger, I decided I'd jump in on the RaceChip end. I haven't purchased yet, but here is my original email, sent this week, and the RaceChip response for posterity's sake.
F. Langendorf (RaceChip)

(My initial outreach
"Good afternoon,

I hope this finds you well. I'm inquiring about the Racechip GTS Black for 2020 BMW M235i.

Specifically, I have a 2020 BMW X2 M35i, with the same B48 engine. According to your website's FAQ's this product should be compatible with my vehicle:

" For this reason, unlimited re-use of our chip tuning products is only possible if the new vehicle has exactly the same engine."

Since they do indeed have the same engine, I wanted to verify that I can purchase this for my vehicle. If so I'd like to do so this week, along with the pedal Tuner product, both with full app support.

Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Best,"

(Response from RaceChip support member F. Langendorf)
"Sep 18, 2020, 10:13 GMT+2

Hello____ ,

While you are basically correct in your assumption regarding the identical parts, we still always check new models on site before we release them for sale. It has happened several times that apparently identical engines in different models were ultimately equipped with different specifications.

Here is a concrete example: The function of the motor can actually be congruent with other models, but new connector types have been installed for the sensors, for example. As a consequence, we have to send another cable harness to connect the RaceChip."

I'm gonna hang on a bit longer and see what you guys find out respectively, then dip my toe in the water here and see what's what.

Racechip Europe has an x2m35i version, I asked them about it and they said it should be on the us site anyday, it’s still not there.

Back in May I got a response from the same person that I just needed to order from the European site.. Definitely did not get as much details or concern about connectors as your reply.
