Installing Dinan boost controller for the BMW X1/X2 - EASIEST power I've ever added!

Hey guys.
I'm not overly active on this side of the bimmerpost world, but i've
been around since 2008 and have had a lot of fun with my previous 135i, and now with my M3 and X1.
I picked up a Dinantronics Boost Controller from Extreme Power House and the install was honestly the easiest mod i've ever done.
If you guys are looking for a solid quality piggyback that spices up your X1/X2, definitely check it out

Going to contact Dinan to see what they say about the M35i.

Yeah, keep me posted! Dude, I test drove the X2 M35... completely exceeded all expectations! It's very easy for some of the "elitist M guys" to bash it, but 99% also never drove one. Without question the X2 m35i is better in every aspect against my X1 (except maybe for cargo) Let me know what Dinan says!

I really do like the BT and precanned feature. There looks to be a gear icon for settings and wonder what that does.

And here is the answer!

Subject: 2019 BMW X2 M35i and DINANTRONICS SPORT PERFORMANCE TUNER
Message: To whom it may concern,

Good afternoon. My name is xxx and I own a 2019 BMW X2 M35i.

I was wondering if you could tell me if the DINANTRONICS SPORT PERFORMANCE TUNER, https://www.dinancars.com/products/s...arts/D440-0012...

Is or is not compatible with my BMW X2 M35i engine. (i.e. Bluetooth Tune auto-reads that it is an X2 M35i and there is a tune for it).

Furthermore, if it is compatible, any idea on how much HP and Torque added on a stock vehicle with 93 Octane?

Please advise and THANK YOU SO MUCH!

xxx

Brian,
Yes the sport tuner D440-0012 will work on your car. It will give you about 30hp and 40 tq to the crank. We are working on a flash tune but I do not have an ETA at the moment. If you would like to place an order just give me a call.

Best Regards,
Andrew

Very good to know.. I would have assumed it would work since both the JB+ and the JB4 work fine on the m35i. The Dinan certainly is nice for the little extra money to have that bluetooth connection to it.

Just ordered it.

Was a bit hesitant, but at the least what I wanted is accurate DIRECT readings of stock boost pressure without using the OBDII port.

And well, you know...

I am assuming all of the BT settings are maps. Going to baseline stock should be off and 22.8 PSI, or something like that and slowly increment. What I'm curious about is what is the MAX PSI that is safe for this engine/transmission. 2 PSI over stock or ?

Interesting. I think they are specifically referring to where the harness meets the casing (which I didn't do) Over top the casing I think should still be okay. Good eye though!

When you're in the software and any chosen mode as soon as you choose current boost with peak boost the current mode display goes away even though you're still in it it doesn't show. Not a dealbreaker but not refined either. A quirk. Generally it's not important because once you find a mode that works you're going to stick with it. But one driving and logging it's a little annoying. Especially when I have another piece of software that I'm flipping back-and-forth with that provides more detail.

I am not impressed. I am VERY disappointed and frustrated.

In all modes, the max PSI is 22.48 (stock). Meaning, that this POS controller doesn't do anything. Not even any reduced boost in Valet mode. I mean the software switches and does work, but no additional boost. Probably because, despite me qualifying this with Dinan that this should work, the website and whoever told me is WRONG!

Calling Dinan now. It's definitely NOT user error. Logged the hell out of it. Something with the maps...

Whhhaaat!? Oh no. Yeah definitely hit them up man! You did your due diligence reaching out to them before hand, and even getting it in writing! That's incredibly disappointing man. I hope they make it right for you
