And that front end seriously looks like the face of a pig. Ears represent the mirrors, eyes represent lights, and the nose represents that ugly kidney grille that use to stand for something.

What is up with that F30 style hood-cut above the kidneys? It's gone on the new X1 but back here?!

Neither are genuinely rebadged of course, but yes BMW borrows its FWD platform from its less luxurious brand just as VAG does.

It's not new - it started with the 2AT and that came to market years ago. But its more visible now since they are adding quite a few more BMW products on this platform now.

Which is all well and good as long as it's not the only thing they offer. B "Mini" Ws will fund development on things we all get excited about.

Not to kick off a whole ///M debate again - I for example thing there should be 230i, 240is, M2 as an example - but having a gussied up Mini badged as an X2 ///M35 doesn't seem right to me. But such is the way of the world and it's definitely not something to get worked up over. Anything one can fix with dental floss and goo gone does not get my blood pressure up.

I noticed that too - but I couldn't imagine that any sort of information would reference halogen at all, unless that was what was coming standard.

Ahhhh, yes - the BMW minivan - that was the start of a lot of bad things...

If the X2 M35i gets a 300hp B48 four cylinder, that might means the next 2 ser coupe gets the same treatment for its M performance model? Current M240i could be the last and the only with inline 6 then

No because the next generation 2 Series coupe and convertible will not move to UKL. They will remain RWD.

So just focusing on U.S. there would be 230/M240 coupe and convertible in both RWD and RWD-biased xDrive, convertible same way. M2 would be RWD only and coupe only (so NO GC as had been previously rumored). Then there would be 228 GC and M235 GC both 4 cylinder engines available in FWD and FWD-biased xDrive?

Did I get all of that right? So basically everything they have now remains basically the same plus add the UKL GC variants.

I am very interested since I have a deposit down on a GC and am starting to think I will just need to get it refunded.

Yes that's all correct to the best of our current knowledge. I would only add that there is a possibility that they add an M2 convertible next time too.

Got it, thanks! Was really hoping for a proper M2 GC but that's purely selfish and based on the fact that I plan to keep the 235 vert and wagon I got dad, so looking to fill gaps rather than get single best car.

Where's the 4 million word press release describing in utterly exhausting detail each photo, because a photo is "worth" 100,000 words as long as you write them next to the photo?

I can forgive the Roundels on the C-pillars, the lipstick on the front bumper cover, the upside-down Kidneys, the line across the hood, etc.

But this right here, is unforgivable:

I know the reasons. I know other "premium" manufacturers do it. I know it's beating a dead horse. I know it'll sell just fine.
I know it's not going to change, but it needs to be said.
Just because it's been accepted as a "normal" trend for BMW doesn't make the UKL platform any less disrespectful to the ethos of BMW.

I think you'd say the same about the A3/S3 and granted it's at a premium price but in my mind the saving grace of the RS3 is that 5. Yes the FWD Haldex Quattro bullshit is less than ideal, but they did smash a hell of an engine into the thing.

Can't mistake us for the general car driving / buying public. Everything that we don't like about this car they either don't care or more likely than not are completely oblivious to. If the car looks nice, has all the doodads they want and at the right price point end of discussion.

Pontiac Aztek?

It reminds me of the Pontiac Aztek - especially the moldings.

I have seen worse exterior designs before. But why don't they just make it like the amazing sketches, why do they have to always dumb it down.

This is exactly why I didn't go to The Art Center of Design in California for transportation design. Because manufacturers would never make the cool designs I would've come up with, ok maybe Lamborghini.

But I have to give BMW props Regards to their individual color schemes, specially the frozen colors, I worked hard on that one. But unfortunately not every model is offered.

The only reason for the roundel on the rear quarter behind the window is to let people know it's a BMW and not a Honda or Kia. Otherwise pot meet kettle.

Hideous.
