A 7yr old was almost hit in front on my driveway just this past Saturday. It's a dense neighborhood with dozens of kids always out playing. Lots of speeders in the neighborhood plus cut through people.

Offender was a late teen or 20 something, whose parents speed and siblings also speed. I never thought highly of the family as they park 3-4 cars on the street during winter parking ban, water their lawn everyday during drought restrictions, on top of the speeding. It was a friend of my kids, I sent ring video to the parents of the kid who almost got hit after my wife took the girl home to explain what happened. Yes we know our kids and theirs don't always look and play safe, constantly reminding the kids to be safer. In our neighborhood no one rarely complains about anything cause its a close LDS church thing.

They were going to talk to the house of speeders, I said I would go with them if they wanted. It could of easily been my kid in the situation plus they are really nice people and knew they would be too submissive in the confrontation by the jerk family. My thing was the guy never even stopped to see if the girl was ok, and witnesses swear he was also on cell phone.

Offender seemed a little shaken but didn't seem remorseful enough. Mom was a total #@$% placing the majority of the blame on the kids not playing safely. Father also was a jerk. Guy claim he stopped after it happened, showed him the video which shows slamming on the brakes, slowed to maybe 15-20mph at point almost hit the kid and continues rolling past never stopping. I nearly lost my temper as whole family denied being speeders and its not their responsibility, that the kids should not be in the street and it would be the kids fault if not safe and got hit. Confirmed my suspicion that the whole family is entitled aholes.

Point is the people doing 35-50mph in a neighborhood 25mph zone with tons of kids always playing only think about themselves and will just pass the blame. No doubt in weeks to months my neighbors will be back to their usual behavior.

We have the same shit in my community, and it's a 15mph posted speed limit. I've almost gotten hit by a car going 60mph down the street which I couldn't see because assholes park their big SUV on the street blocking my view. I also warn my kids about the cars, but kids are kids and will play in the street. I did that when I was a kid too. But with all the distractions people have in their car today what is the solution? We also have kids riding ATV's and minibikes which are illegal too. One day someone is gonna get hurt badly in my neighborhood. SMH.

hey karen, I actually agree and hate when people speed in neighborhoods but I would just let it go. At least dont be passive agressive, be aggressive and get one of these lol

To OP - a while back this guy from the other side of the lake would whip by like 40-45 in his GT350. 25 mph zone. After 3-4 times I knocked on his door and just said, Hey! I get it, nice sporty car and all, but somewhere else please. That was it. Most of us lake people get it.

As for delivery, I have been out there and I give them the 'hands down slow down' maneuver like 'I see you and disapprove of you speeding in my neighborhood'. Take it to the source, they are on your turf, let them be aware of that!

We had an issue with a teenager ripping around our neighborhood. I put a polite letter in his parents mailbox pointing out the long term effects of their son running over a neighborhood kid while driving like an asshole in the neighborhood. We watched him ride to work on his bike for the next month. Excellent parents. From then on he drove totally appopriately as well.
