Yeah these guys advertise an 88 ft lb torque increase for the M235i. These are bogus numbers. They are taking stock advertised numbers and then showing their after results. It's not a magical piggyback as it's the same old sensors they tap into to up the boost. I'm sure it gives a nice boost in power, but nowhere even close to the claims. A nearly 100 hp increase on the M240i, I don't think so, close to 40-50 most likely as BMW underrates the 340hp stock claim substantially. Again, I'm sure a perfectly good tune, but hate the fake claimed gains. If you are buying it thinking you'll pick up 9-10 mph in the 1/4 mile trap, you'll be disappointed. If you buy and think you'll get 4-5 mph advantage and drop about 1/2 second in 1/4 that's more accurate and you'll be happy.

its weird they are claiming testing was done with UK 98oct fuel which would account for the unbelievable power increase over other A 2 sensor tune(still skeptical). That being said why wouldn't they test using A more common 93oct at least have both to show. If it allows for other octane ranges would an e85 mix that is bringing 93oct gas closer to 98-100oct allow for such gains?
"Performance number gains are quoted based on Engine Power Gains, not wheel horsepower. Testing on the products was done in the UK using 98octane fuel. VRTuned has tested these in-house on several cars and stand behind the Tuning Box Kits work as claimed." |

Where i live finding 93 is almost impossible. We have one station about 35 miles from my house that still sells it. Everything has gone to 91 (with up to 10% ethanol). I have a few places i can get straight 91 but they are getting harder to find. Would a tune like this have a problem with running 91?

I've been out of the tuner world for several years. I drove an 03 WRX and pretty much everything on the car was from Cobb Tuning. I really liked that company and sad to see they don't do anything with newer BMW models. I don't plan on going as far with this car but would like a nice tune. I knew a little about this company from the Suby world so I checked them out on my hunt. Do you guys think I should guinea pig it?

I think adding that the test were done in the UK doesn't really make a difference if they claimed 98ron then everyone can figure 93oct gas would equal those gains (which they wouldn't) but they claim 94hp gain on 98 octane not saying I believe the claim its just they aren't claiming those numbers using 98ron or 93oct "Performance number gains are quoted based on Engine Power Gains, not wheel horsepower. and lastly right from the advertisement for the product.
"We DO NOT offer a guarantee from independent dyno tests" So, basically just trust us the numbers were what they were when we tested it, but then you go test the box and you don't get anywhere near those gains. This thing appears identical to the RaceChip which makes sense because Racechip is made in Germany and the dyno is in German language not UK. So why in the world is the dyno in German language yet the dyno was supposedly done in the UK?

Well I guess I will try it out. I'm going to throw the car on the Dynojet in a couple weeks and get a baseline and then add the tuner and do another pull. Proof is in the pudding.

Well we had some issues today. The car liked to downshift even in manual mode which made getting a good pull really annoying. We did get a good baseline stock pull of 310hp and 330ft/lbs. As for the tuner I am not sure what happened. When we put that on there the car gained a bit of HP but dropped lots of torque. Would it be possible that swapping it without giving the computer time to adjust just does not work. I am waiting on a call from vivid to see what they say about it. Pretty bummed to say the least
