Maintenance Contract on 2018 X2?

Looking to get some feedback / thoughts on benefits / cost comparison of a BMW maintenance contract. Details (a bit lengthy) below, thanks in advance for input.

I purchased my 2018 X2 x28i used in Feb of 2022. It had 21,000 miles on it and now has 29,000. I took it in for service as it says front brakes are needed, engine oil and brake fluid. I have usually taken my cars to the dealer in the past. This is my first visit to a BMW dealer.

Price as quoted for vehicle check and the work above would be about $2,000 (brakes alone is about $1,400). He offered me a "maintenance warranty / contract" at several levels. He didn't hard sell me, just outlined some options. There are 2 levels that might make sense, in the long run.

These are both "whichever comes first" and are maintenance only, not bumper to bumper extensions. It goes from "mfg date", so starts in March, 2018. This is a BMW contract, so any authorized BMW dealer, not just this one would cover service. It is also transferrable, although I don't plan on selling anytime in the near future.

72mo / 100,000 miles at $3,200 (goes to March 2024)
84mo / 125,000 miles at $4,300 (goes to March 2025)

This covers all things like brakes (front and rear), spark plugs, wipers, oil changes, key fob batteries (yeah, I know this is easy), etc. This would kick in immediately and cover the work done for this service. So, it would be roughly $4,300 - $2,000 = $2,300 to cover oil changes ($299 at the dealer), brakes (rear and if needed again, front), filters, spark plugs ($399, can't find exact, but many say from 30,000 to 60,000 miles).

I drive roughly 10,000 miles a year. At 10,000 miles a year, that would put me at 55,000 miles, maybe closer to 60,000 and be at least 3 oil changes in there. Probably rear brakes, possibly front brakes again? and possibly spark plugs?

I'm leaning towards the $4,300 84mo coverage and initially told him to go ahead with it. What do you all think of dealer maintenance contracts? My car mechanic Uncle probably would tell me to do it myself and I have done basic things like oil, starter/alternator before. However, I don't have a good space to work on a car and the time usually to do it.

Brake pads should take less than an hour and save you lots of $$. Dealer quoted me $670 for front pads and labor for M brakes. Oem pads are like $150. It will take me longer to lift the car than it would to change the pads.

A BMW dealer brake job will include pads and rotors and are the single most expensive regular service on these cars. Some people buy the contract just for this in fact.

With just 29K miles I agree that pads will likely be all you need, and an indy or DIY will be waaay cheaper.

Wow. $4,300 just for maintenance for just over 2 years on an X2 is crazy. The only way that can sound economically viable is if you start with a dealer's inflated prices. I don't know why anybody goes to a dealer out of warranty, especially just for maintenance. I am certain I have not spent $4,300 on maintenance on my 650 and X3 combined in the 5 years I have had them, and still not that much even if you add in the Volvo XC90 and Mercedes convertible I had before that.
