Funny you mention that, because I was recently on the lookout for an e90 m3, and it's both slim pickings and worse deals imo. 2010+ with 125k miles for 'just' $29k? Nah, ticking time bomb.

Depends entirely on how you look at it. I wouldn't be buying a car like that without factoring the cost of an engine rebuild. I might even do it pre-emptively and do a 4.4 or 4.6 out of 4.0. I think the E9x M3 has way more staying power than the F87 regardless of potential upkeep costs. The M2 was a cheaper ownership option (in terms of fuel costs and potential failure costs) but after having it 3 years I can see its also less entertaining though it has fewer costly potential flaws. |

Exactly. Sick of seeing guys asking mid 50k for a 2016 m2 with decent miles on it. The car is 7 years old! But I guess that's what this market is smh

I ended up finding a 40k mile 2020 m2c. It’s lovely. It was about 8k more than the 17-18 low mileage cars I found. But feels actually quicker and looks brand new still |

But also wonder if it’s a long term keep. How will prices be long term. I know used cars will be heading downward eventually again. But as they become more rare like the m1. Wonder if they will hold more value than a more common m3. I have only seen about 2 m1 s in California. About 3-4 m2s. And an m3 every week.

I had to drive it home through the Kettleman Hills along with my 340i M Sport and that was just PHENOMENAL!! Car sticks to the road like it was on rails!! I'll be doing a post about the car, my initial thoughts on the car, comparison to the other BMW's I've had, the trip to purchase and bring it home and lastly airing the issues to see if anyone has some helpful insights.

Dealership I know of that sells lots of BMWs, they post their clean E9X M3's for $60k. It makes me crack up every time.

I think around 25k M3s from the E90/92 generation in north America, though that’s between 3 body styles. |

M2 is more common then 1M, but less common than the e9x m3. Then again sedan e90 m3 are more rare than coupes. It's also the only m3 with a NA V8 that revs to 8400. Maybe people who are staring down the barrel of only hybrid and electric new cars might want the used m3 with the high revving NA v8 engine to ride off into the ICE sunset rather than turbo 6. It's possible they hold value better. But I'm getting away from my original point. Forget resale. It's a drop in the bucket. Get what you want. |

In early 2020 I bought a slightly used 2018 OG with 7k miles for $46k instead of spending $15k+ for a new comp that I felt was only incrementally (not vastly) different. Haven't regretted it for one second. Pretty sure I win.

Exactly this. Buy what you want, enjoy it. If you're in a position to afford a performance car like an M2 or E9X M3 then resale should be a moot point. Affording to own a car isn't only having the money to purchase it, but also the money to eat the associated costs like a new engine or a shitty resale value. |

You win something, I just don't know exactly what when you compare pricing for a 2 year old car to a new car... news at 11

So, back to original topic - I picked up my 2019 M2C, with 9k miles ... and I'm in love. Did 3200 miles on it down to Keywest and back to Michigan in 6 days.
The power is more than enough for the road, the ride is fantastic, the looks are beautiful, and I stopped at ActiveAutowerks in Miami to upgrade the midpipe to EL, and picked up their exhaust too. Disconnected valve open. I don't want to be in Sport+ with traction off to have a normal exhaust... And surprisingly with it's short stance - there is plenty of space in the back for not so small kid... As this will be my 4 seat car, that's really great! |

Congrats! Looks fantastic. I am especially partial to LBB, as it does a great job showing off the body lines. Any sound clips of the new exhaust?

Congrats!! You made a great choice to go with the S55 over the N55… we got both cars at home and the power difference and the handling imo, more than makes up for any inferior exhaust sound of the S55! Personally I love how the S55 sounds. The MPE on the N55 drones too much… if you plan on driving hard or tuning it, highly recommend considering an upgrade to the crank hub bolt… but I wouldn't worry too much as it's still a rare problem… also consider upgrading your top mount intercooler to an aftermarket one that's not prone to leaks… enjoy!!
