It's no joke. The weekend after my wife's mom had that accident, my wife's friend had a bike accident where she just fell over while trying to ride as slow as she could. (instead of unclipping while waiting to cross an intersection) Wasn't wearing a helmet, was knocked out for a few minutes. Had lost all hearing in her right ear for about 2 weeks. Still has bouts of dizziness from time to time.

Helmets don't just save lives.....

maybe this? http://www.amazon.com/Giro-2027GRH-R.../dp/B005QZLPJE

I'm thinking about switching to one of those myself, since I seem to be the only clown in my area that rides a full on road bike wearing "normal" clothes instead of looking like one of these guys on the neighborhood bike trails...

Cannot even imagine wearing regular shorts whilst sitting on a "widow maker"... Just the thought...

Neat helmet. Looks similar to what Bern offers.

My current is the Giro Savant. After seeing David Coulthard wearing the Specialized Prevail, I'm inclined to try one out.

I wear normal running clothes when I'm out on my bike too. But I just ride for fitness on my off days from running or gym.

I've been wearing the Bern for some years now. But i ride mostly on mtn bikes. I would go with the Prevail for road riding. I've heard good things about them.

Giro and Laser tend to have the lowest profile. I have a Mavic and POC, both are huge. But I'm already wearing spandex and plastic shoes, the helmet isn't making things any better or worse, the damage is already done.

Yeah. I don't buy that helmets can make you look worse when you're already dressed in spandex with carbon soled shoes. You look like you belong on a bike, a helmet is just part of it.

I change out of my bibs and such right after riding. That stuffs sucks to sit around in. I'm not a believer in the current Giro thought that biking clothes should be dual purpose.

Plus it's nice to get chamois cream or embrocation off anyway.
