I have a 2019 X1 and I would like to enable full-screen CarPlay. It´s a WAY iDrive unit... is there a way I can do it by myself, without upgrading the firmware?

If current firmware supports full screen, then you can code full screen. If firmware does not support full screen, then it must be updated.

Greetings from Spain ... I have a new F48 LCI (two months old). How do I know if CarPlay can be activated in my car?. It has the option S6UPA Navigation Plus.

If it was activated, it would appear on iDrive menu.

It seems then that it is not activated, in communication/phones there is a tickbox "Apps" but no "CarPlay". Would it be possible to activate it ?. Thanks.

hey thanks for posting this. I've just recently gone down the rabbit hole on this fullscreen CarPlay thing as it seems pretty cool, and kinda dumb that it's not there in an update from the mothership.

I wasn't so bothered about it as I do like to have media displayed in the 1/3 with CarPlay running most of the time, and my understanding is that once fullscreen is enabled, you lose the split screen altogether.

I would love to see what the fullscreen CarPlay looks like with the included "triple view" or whatever it is, it's actually visible in the photo as the very lower-left icon, like a toggle between the apps grid and that mode. That would show some map, current media and a couple of destination shortcuts in fullscreen which would solve my issue with losing split screen completely. That mode is too squished to be very useful in the current split screen setup, and I have that size display in the photo.

I sent a probably-futile email to my local dealership asking if they ever do head unit flash-upgrades because I was looking for this, and I think the newer cars are shipping with that one little tiny flag we all need flipped on. I have one of the WAY / ENTRYNAV2 cars it seems so looks like USB-flashing is out of the question, do I have that right?

The "triple view" is really useful and I tend to use it as much as possible.
I will post a pic when I drive the X1 again.

I would have thought they might fit more than 2 shortcuts in there with the extra space. still, that's a very handy configuration.

Not sure if this topic is still active but I have an issue with full screen carplay. I just activated the option with Bimmercode. Carplay is fullscreen now but screen is stretched, not using the full resolution. Anybody knows how to fix that?

Running Entrynav2, but not one of the versions i've read about being compatible. ie version "k"

Under version information it says Australia/New Zealand BMW GRoup 142011939.1.00 Road Map Australia/New Zealand Way 2020-1 K1913C1R

Does this mean I have to flash the firmware on my unit?
