CTS Turbo -
On behalf of the BMW X2 M35i community, we want clarity and provide interest to: https://www.ctsturbo.com/product/cts...38-b48-intake/ We need a slotted MAF sensor like this one, and in your picture: What part # is for the system to provide that. Please advise and THANK YOU! |

I would assume it should since it's a b48 engine.. and it comes with both iteration of MAF sensors. We have no idea where it is available, it's just where xcelir8bmw just happened to buy it he noted that it shipped from Canada.

It shipped out of Canada because CTS Turbo is based out of British Columbia. I believe Extreme Powerhouse sells CTS products...might try there if you are looking for a purchase from a US entity.

Received the system. Excellent quality. Something that should of taken me 30 minutes to install is taking me a few hours. I'll share an update later today with pictures and the reasons why. And I will communicate this to CTS Turbo as well!

OK, Intake Tube.
CTS Intake Tube too small compared to stock outer circle. Must be larger on M35i, specifically 3.5" ID. Instead of getting a reducer and adding more crap to the install, simply trim the stock intake tube outer rim to fit the MAP sensor and welded flange. The inner part of the stock intake inner lip and the CTS Intake tube now meet very tight. Move stock worm bracket towards back of car, in and over a ridge to secure stock intake tube and CTS intake tube securely. And if you have to put the stock airbox back on, that trimmed area will be covered by the worm clamp, so no worries. All good. Last edited by xcelir8bmw; 10-12-2020 at 10:12 AM.. |

Heat shield. Science project.
The M35i has a slightly different lower intake box angle-ing than what this heat shield is made for. I spent hours and hours and a bunch of ingenuity to make it fit. Fabrication, measuring, cutting, welding (JB style) etc. - oh yeah. After everything that I had done, I painted the outer and inner with High Temp Black paint. Kinda used that as a primer. Then I added the bedliner paint on top. That shit always works for projects like this and no one would be the wiser. Looks good IMO. It will look better when it's dry and in the vehicle. |

Sound and Performance.
Note: I didn't drive the car that hard. I mean I tried, but the JB4 failsafed me when in map2, fail safety 30, twice. Before it failesafed me at WOT, the car seemed to be a BEAST, more than normal with 4 additional PSI! THANK GOD for the failsafe! Logged it. Emailed terry. Warmer day out as well. Dunno. Anyhow, in stock mode, map 0 (no issues), the car is so much smoother in the RPM band. I can't say that things appeared faster or more power, but looking down at my KOSO boost gauge, it appeared that boost was more stable according to a comparison of stock. I didn't drive the car in my formal test mode long enough to analyze the sound (no woosh though), and I didn't listen that carefully for BOV, etc.. I was more concerned about why the heck map 2 failsafed me. I will say when I got home and looked at the logs, they definitely did not look - at all like I had before the intake. Looked like there was so much power in the logs. Tomorrow I have about a 100 mile drive to do. I'll let everyone know how things go with that. That's a much better test! |

I don’t think our cars like more air. Give it time though, I’ve been popping a permanent lean code all week but it cleared today.

Final Assembly complete.
You can see the paint inside, outside, I ended up zipping off part of the heat shield so I can take it on/off without futzing with the intake. Better design IMO and the amount I zipped off was leaning right up against the hard plastic battery encasement anyway, so no issues on airflow. See final 5 pix. Working with Terry through Email on JB4 tuning. Ugh. |

Given you and rice have gone failsafe and I’ve gotten generic codes with intakes, me thinks we’re on the ragged edge. I think true tuning will make insane results but we’ve got to persevere and potentially suffer to get there.

Give it time. Airflow will equal power, we just need someone who gives a shit to give it a crack.

Note: CTS Turbo may want to increase the size of the piping to 3.5" ID so it mates up perfectly to the M35i stock plastic intake tubing and possibly use my heat shield or directions to make a unit that fits perfectly, the first time with no user fabrication.

FYI - Been Emailing CTS Turbo back and forth for them to develop the right intake and heat shield for our vehicle and the M235i and M135i with proper dimensions. I'll advise how things progress accordingly.
