Snagged a used X2 M35i

Well, I was originally looking at a '19 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Sport Ti for a small crossover. Leaving my '18 430i F33 since I can't fit anyone in the back seat of the convertible.

My sales guy there texted me and said we have a '19 X2 M35i with 3800 miles that came in if you want to look at it.

Well, after I drove it I said let's do the paperwork. My only other suv experience is with my 2020 Ford Explorer (Police Interceptor) which has been down more often than running the past year.

I did not expect the M35i to sound as good as it does. Even though it's cold, I was driving it with the windows down.

This car just goes when I touch the gas and I like the comfort steering in this over the F33. Granted, I did do most of my driving in sport on the F33 and I will with the X2.

The mirror colors threw me off at first. I'll wait to see if they grow on me by spring, else I'll black them out. I already scheduled an appointment to get the front windows tinted.

The CBS says 9000 miles to an oil change, but I'm thinking it's still on the original oil so I am going to change it next week on my days off. I ordered a filter today. I already have oil from the F33 (Liqui Moly 0w20).

Ignore the steam from the pressure washer rinse coming out of the grill.

quick pics. had appts to get to.

got a plate cover on it now. my Army decal won't stick since there's no metal on the back. I'll have to figure something out.

My experience exactly, too!

I bet the oil was changed at 1 year under the included factory maintenance, and that's why the reminder is saying 9000 miles. What month and year does it say just after? It was done one year prior. In other words, save yourself the aggravation and just drive it.

It’s saying 9000 miles or 5/2021. I’ll just wait till May.

Thanks!

Just did a VIN decode and it says s676a for the HiFi so I'm assuming my Bavsound Revenant amp should fit. I'll try to swap it in on my next days off.

not compatible it seems from reading the x3 forums. my amp is the "A" amp tuned for sedans/coupes. The "B" amp is tuned for SAV/SUVs. Wonder if Bavsound will take mine in to reprogram? Should've gotten the Match amp. lol

Congrats! Same situation here... 2019 with 3,150 miles on it. Not sure how you could lease a car for a year and never drive it. Hell, I've already put 350 on it this first week.

I really dig the Cerium Gray accents but my paint is Mineral Metallic Gray so I guess maybe they just don't stand out as much to me. FWIW, they do show spots easily but a quick pass by hand with some 3M Perfect-it Machine Polish (followed up with wax) cleaned them right up!

Congrats!

And the steam looks cool actually. It's like a bull ready to charge.

I wish it had that, that's one option it doesn't have. At least with the heated steering wheel and seats I can live without remote start as well.

I'll dig through the manual tonight during work, but does anyone know the easiest way to remove the center console phone snap in adapter? I'm using an iPhone XS Max and it's too big.

Also, easiest way to remove the center rear headrest? I tried just yanking on it like I did my F33 rear headrests, but it's not coming out.

Glad to see this car has three USB-C ports for charging things.

My son was all sad when I traded in the F33 (it was going to be his in a few years when I retire and get a Vette hardtop convertible) but after one ride in the X2 he's okay with the choice.

From another website but this is dead on accurate I’ve done all three in my rear I don’t want any of them up there. You need to look really closely at the plastic button that he’s talking about it’s actually two pieces and you need to split them. Don’t just start yanking underneath the whole button , it won’t move.

Here is how to do it. I did it on my daughters X2 and it took about 2 minutes. Raise the headrest. Pry off the little round plastic cover by hand on the RH side-the one without the button. It comes off easily, held in by three small tabs. Under that cover is a round metal slot for the headrest bar. On the side with an opening there is a gray metal clip that holds the headrest in place. Take a small screwdriver and pry the clip out (comes out easily). Reinstall plastic cover-snaps in place. Headrest can be removed-or you can put it in and remove it at will, like any other headrest. Rearward vision improved.”

I want to remove it too, because my phone doesn't fit. I did some search but did not spend too much time on it. If you find the way, please share. In the meantime, I put my sunglasses in there.

I found what you mentioned too, but it's actually easier than that. You just need a small flat head screwdriver to push the pin. I didn't have to pry anything out.

Page 79 of the navigation and communication manual tells you how to remove the adapter. You can get that PDF at the owners portal of the Bmw website

Much safer with those things out of the way.

Thanks everyone! I removed the center headrest. Much better.

Kids and dog keeping me busy today but I managed to give the car a polish (Menzerna 3in1) and a quick coat of the new 303 Graphene spray. Smells funny but easy to use.

Got a dog seat cover for the cargo area, will get that installed tomorrow. My husky is upset that the convertible is gone and will probably be more upset once she finds out she's stuck in the back of the X2.

Here's the husky last summer when I went to pickup my son. She's like there's no room for you!

I used the 303 graphene spray also, I like its application, we’ll see how long it lasts, great gloss…

Updated the idrive software from bmw’s website. Now I randomly get the emergency call malfunction error. It still works. I actually hit the button and it connected to the operator. Not sure what’s going on. It goes away and returns randomly. I’ll try to restore the old software. Base map is Way 2018-3. Of course I have 2020-2 EVO on my computer. Will have to source Way maps now.

Just broke 4k.

Wish my weathertechs would ship soon. It’s starting to snow and no signs of a break.

I am not sure it's related to the update. Many people, including me got this error. It has something to do with a battery to replace under warranty.

it is the back up battery, not software related, had it got it fixed. It is a warranty item. tell your dealer they will most likely have to order you a battery which takes a while. pretty fast install if I recall. not a big deal, everything works, hit the computer button on the end of the turn stalk and it goes away

some known defect.
