Boot space

The boot space of the VW Tiguan is 615 litres but that is with the sliding seats forward.
Now the boot space of the X1 is 505 litres but is that with the sliding seats adjusted fully forward if not then it must have a similar capacity of the Tiguan

If you have the sliding seats the trunk space is a little bit smaller.
I have seen this difference from the floor mat which I ordered for the trunk.
By mistake I ordered the floor mat for the car which does not have sliding rear seats.
And that mat was like 3 cm longer than the one which is I needed.
So with sliding rear seats all the way to the back, the trunk space is 3 cm smaller. (in length)

I'm looking around at potential replacements for the X1 at some point, and boot/trunk space is a factor due to our requirement to squeeze two dogs in the back... I'm not clear on whether the quoted "505 - 1550 litres" in the handbook include the space *under* the boot/trunk floor as well, or just the more useful space above. Does anyone know for sure, as I want to compare like-for-like? I'm using this site as a guide:

Your dogs are measured in liters?

I would assume it's 505 with the seats up and the floor space covered. You might want to measure for a crate though (instead of going by volume). They'd be a lot safer in one, in which case it's all about geometry. Or consider a grille, to keep them from going over the seat.
