Biggest myth is that this only happens to somebody who is loose, cheap, slutty, etc.

Second biggest myth is that you can tell who has it (this can turn beer goggles into a fatal condition).

And third on the trifecta is the myth that these are all just a shot of antibiotic to cure - thanks to decades of indiscriminate antibiotic use in much of the world, there are many strains of these that are almost impossible to get rid of.

The condom statistic in the article is insane. Used to be 46% and now 31% of gay men? That is crazy. I wonder it the stats are similar for hetro men? I honestly cannot understand why it isn't near 100% of unmarried or non-monogamous couples. To not take that precaution just seems ridiculous to me. I don't get it.

On a serious note, I would attribute this to poor habits and the recent influx of the internet giving us the ability to hook up with people. A few years ago when I did the internet dating thing, it was alarming at the amount of sex I was having with women I had only known for a couple of hours.....I'm talking mind blowing. Human mentality plays into this as well. Women use sex to get love and men use love to get sex; you take this mentality along with the ease of internet dating and you have a recipe for disaster.

In the next 50 years, dating and marriage will no longer be socially acceptable. We will discover it was a waste of time, money and emotions to care for or try to accept someone as an equal. Some of us have already discovered this.
