Thought I’d post a pic or two of mine...Alpine white on Mocha...Wish I would have opted for a few things though...Sport seats, Adaptive lights, The better Nav, backup camera...Oh well. I upgraded from a ’12 MINI CMS All4...Very happy with this purchase overall.

Hahaha.... Here are some quick phone photos taken just before dusk. I'll have to get my SLR out for some better ones.
The car is even better than I expected! And all those criticisms about the ride are unfounded, in my opinion. The ride is sooo much better than my A Class (now that car is harsh over bumps), the engine is smooth and quiet, it feels quick (even using only up to 4500rpm so far). I briefly tried Sport mode and didn't find the ride too bad either, although its firmer. Definitely nothing to worry about unless you're after a super comfy cruiser. Our cars don't come with the M Sport dead pedal. Don't make them for RHD cars So I got a 3rd party one off eBay and trimmed it to fit (see last photo). Looks ok but not exactly the same design. |

I think you'll be pleased with the X1 coming from the A Class. My A200 has the standard "comfort" (lol) suspension not the AMG Line, so yours must be even firmer. My wife ruled out the A250 AMG Sport as the ride was just horrid. The X1's engine is so smooth compared to Merc's coarse-sounding unit that hates revs. Cabin refinement, quality of materials, infotainment tech is a big step up too. The A Class handles better, lower COG, firmer springs etc, but this beats it in any other respect.

It is hard to compare a hatch to the X1 in terms of handling. Chalk & Cheese really The X1 X Drive 25i (28i in USA/Can) performs and handles extremely well given it higher COG. It is the best handling main stream SUV for the money that I have experienced so far. Add to that the Cabin refinements, quality of materials, I Drive and the driving tech and toys that are in it and it is far ahead of the competition. |

I test drove a M-B AMG GLA 45. It 'handled' well, but I don't have enough dental insurance to buy it as a daily driver on our roads. Interestingly, I see M-B has added adjustable dampers to the GLAs as standard in Australia.

Yeah I agree, for a regular family SUV it's a very good drive. The balance is spot on for me. The GLA45 would be almost track-car firm and there's no way I would want to drive a softly-sprung SUV that handles like a boat (if anyone wants a soft riding SUV they can go buy a Lexus!)
With the DDC I can set the suspension to Sport mode for the twisties, while my wife keeps it in Comfort for her daily commute and everyone's happy! I think the small Mercs desperately needed the adaptive suspension, and I remember reading the new updated A250 is still pretty firm if not quite as bad as before. |

Nice!
There was an X3 in the dealership delivery bay when I collected ours. Side by side, there's very little in it -- you certainly wouldn't buy an X3 for much, if any, additional space.

The X3 is very boring in its design language imho, no way I would have one. The X1 looks aggressive and has some really nice design elements.

Great comparo pics!
I guess the x3 is an old design so the X1 was always going to look fresher. New x3 due in the next year or so, so should wait to compare to that.. |

X1 is better looking IMO but the new X3 coming out is supposed to usher in the new design language for the X models.
