Raising the Top Speed
Per BMW's website, the all-season tired cars top out at 130 and the non all season cars top out at 155. Interestingly, I've been able to hit 135 (as displayed on the speedometer). Does anyone know if we can code the top speed limiter on these cars or is this something that can only be done via ECU tuning.

Disclaimer: I do not condone excessive speeding and I hope what I say does not contribute to a speeding ticket or worse.
Having said that, why not simply replace with larger diameter tires? |

Just about every tune comes with limiter removal. It’s the only way.

Many reasons.
- That would require a 20% increase in circumference, over 2.5" greater diameter - introduce a 20% speedometer error - negatively change many car dynamics, including takeoff advantage, steering assist and dynamic stability - increase likelihood of tire rubbing at steering and suspension limits - require 55 aspect ratio tires, changing the ride substantially - be unsafe at high speeds In other words, such a large tire change would totally screw up the car. To the OP, I'd be surprised if this could be coded out of the ECU with Bimmercode, but a tuner could definitely override it. Do you plan to track it? If so, where? You'll need quite the straight to take advantage of >130. |

The only reason I'd want to raise it is for when doing track / runway runs. I don't want to kill the warranty which is my hesitation with DME tuning. I suppose it is what it is at this point. Thanks for the replies, all!

As mentioned it may be in the DME but it may be able to be coded by advanced programming and others like bootmod3 when they unlock it. For now you have to sit tight...
