Well, let me tell you what I know. There does have extra cost for the dealer besides the car alone. If you negotiate from MSRP and down, they already included the so called MACO and Training Fees in your total price. So if from MSRP down, it would be: MSRP - $XXX discount negotiated= your total price before tax and license.
If you negotiate from invoice and up, they usually do this: invocie car price + MACO + Training Fees = Your total price before tax and license. Invoice up means how much the dealer profit is plus their extra fees besides your car cost. UNLESS you clearly communicate with your CA about these fees been included, usually they just add it on afterwards. So for your case, it means $1000 dealer profit plus $800 for MACO and Training Fee. Many people don't know about this, so it surprises the buyers when they see their bill. This is what my CA told me. By the way, MACO is the marketing expenses thing for the dealer. If you do some search on bimmerfest, there's a lot of topic about.

Chicago tax is insane. Weird is that if you buy a used car from pvt party for under $15k you don't pay tax in IL just a 100-300 fixed processing fee based on vehicle year
This is creating a nice little grey market on craigslist etc...since dealers don't have the tax advantage anymore. Sucks for us new buyers but will help sell my e36 coupe.... |
