Interior ambient lighting

Hi
I was wondering if anyone knew if its possible to add the above/below door and dashboard trim ambient lighting. My car didn't come with it and i was hoping to be able to add it

need the wiring. if you take the trim off the dashboard, is there pre-existing wiring? mine has the connector - i can't imagine why this isn't standard across all X1s.

I haven't checked to be totally honest, if i have the connector then its possible to add it? I would assume the connector is there just the lights not installed

The dash trim plug was present on my late 2017 car so I just acquired the light strip for the dash (I had trim in doors from factory already). I would check first to see if the wiring is present in which case adding the lighting strips is possible, dash is easiest to check, start by pulling away trim from door towards the centre, if you find loose small 2 pin plug then good to go, parts numbers can be found online. Interestingly footwell light wiring was not present on my car so retrofit was not possible.

This is useful, mine also has a 4 pin unused plug under the trim.
What is the part number for the dash trim light?

Thank you. I looked this up, it seems to be the number 16 in attached photo. But 16 seems to be missing from the part list.

Any idea if I'm missing anything?

Unfortunately it looks like this is a discontinued part. Maybe worth trying salvage yards which is how I got the part.

Check this thread: https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1877483

I'm in the same situation, I added the dash ambient lighting no problem (plug was already there), haven't tried the doors yet.

If he used his VIN to find the part, it will be greyed out because it's not attached to his specific VIN.

I checked against model not specific VIN and it was still greyed out. You are correct that using VIN will grey out parts not factory fitted to that vehicle. Not sure why my check against model failed if now showing on realoem.

I used the parts number mentioned and placed the order. Thanks for helping. The realm link is also useful for me in the long term.
