It is unknown whether the codes are the same for X2 (F39) and F48.

Please try (^_−)−☆

And it works! I also have fog lights as brake lights, which is pretty cool.

Just curious.. On the pre-lci X1 where are the brake force lights?

In my 2017 X1 I noticed in bimmercode the regular brake lights are halogen but brake force is LED. I don't see any LED's in my tail light units except for the running lights though?

No I mean physically on the car. The outer tail lights house the turn signal at the top and brake bulb at the bottom. The inner tail lights house the reverse bulb and a rear fog light bulb. All these are halogen. There is also the parking light which is the LED light tube.

But where is the factory brake force display LED bulb? I'm talking about the factory function where a second LED bulb engages along with the regular halogen brake light bulb under hard deceleration that BMW has had on their cars for the past 20 years. Not the flashing lights that can be coded.

When I check the factory coding it says my brake force display is LED. But I don't know where it is in the tail light housing.

No idea. Everything is LED in mine.

I think you're looking for something that isn't there. I replaced all the halogen bulbs with LEDs, so I've had a good look at the taillights as well. The only LED element in the pre-LCI taillight is the light tube, and then you've got the four halogen bulbs per side that you already know about. The rear fog lights do double duty as the brake force display lights (in North America, they come on solid instead of flashing).

Yep, you're right. I read up on the documentation. It's strange that my car was factory coded as "LED" for the brake force lights when it's clearly halogen. I did some testing with my wife driving to get the brake force bulbs to light up. In the end, decided to run LED for regular brake lights but halogen for brake force. The slight delay for the brake force halogens to light up fully draws additional attention compared to running full LED. Almost as if the brake lights are lit two times in succession instead of one. I guess the reverse of how it worked on my Z4 where regular brakes are halogen but brake force were factory LED.

How did you get the rear fogs to work with brake lights? I tried the codes listed by Takabo and nothing changed

Thanks

BTW: I have a US 2017 XI idrive

I just used the same code he provided and it worked!

Btw, I need to update this. My right LED DRL started to dim, I got it fixed since I still have my warranty but I'm assuming its because of this. So, I will no longer recommend coding the DRL's, the fog however is just a quick change led bulb.

UGH. I even checked the codes after restarting the ECU and all those codes did was activate the brake light as a turn signal...it didn't activate the fogs as brake lights.

As you guys seem to be pretty well informed on tail lights, I have a question for you: I have replaced rear halogen lights with leds but am missing a wire for the outer DRLs, do you think it would be possible (until I have time to install the missing wire) to use the "normal" rear light wire by swapping the pin in the connector?
They're all already coded to LED anyway...

Thanks for any help

Ok quick update on this. I have in fact managed to use the rear standard tail light pin to illuminate the LED part. A couple of caveats: 1. They only turn on when the lights are actually on (either by the switch or when it’s dark on auto) and 2. They only turn on around 50% brightness, they go to 100% when the brake pedal is pressed.

Any ideas on how I can work around this?

I was thinking fog lights as brake lights and rear tail lights always on…
I will try coding above for fog lights as brake lights.
Does anyone know how to code rear tail lights always on?

Thanks

I'm guessing the first 2 are what I'm looking for?

I have already coded DRLs always on, this would code the standard tail light as a drl if I understood correctly?

Thanks

Attached is current state, when the lights are on when it's dark I also have the inner standard bulbs always on, would be good to turn these off too.

Thanks for all your help!

Sorry for reviving the post, but i did this code but my brakes doesn’t light up with the signals, only working the priority mode if the turn signal are on the brakes are off until the turn signal is off, any tips about ? I did too the light bars that worked fine.

I don't remember which codes do what but try these, this is all I found in my notes:

Thanks for response
I tried the fog as brakes and nothing happened, also I forgot to tell i have a F30. Maybe need some adjustments to work
The rear daylight turn code will blink the bars or the brakes ? My bars already coded to blink like the video, i searched a lot but can’t make the brakes blinks too.
I saw that you used a universal mapping, just map the number “14” that means the number is related to the brakes or led bars?
Maybe the member Takabo knows how it works? Sorry for many questions, thanks in advance.
