I have coilovers in my possession. The shop I took them to said they weren't the right ones and couldn't install them. I verified and they are correct. Gotta find a shop who knows what they are doing. This shop was all JDM. Should have been my first sign.

Looks amazing!

Could you please share the specs? Maybe 19x8.5" and 245/45 tires?

Thanks,

Do you think 245/40/20 tires will fit on 20x8.5ET40 wheels on stock suspension?

Thanks!

245/35/20 seems like a better fit for the X1.

A couple of links to calculate wheels & tires:
And then several threads across the forum for 20" wheels:

I'm so excited to share with you guys my new setup!
  • Wheels: Niche Gamma 19x8.5" et42, black gloss finish
  • Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport 4 255/40r19 100W XL Acoustic

Coming from 18" wheels with RFT tires, it was a HUGE change. Not only improve the look that now is totally flush; the grip is INSANE! And also the tires have a layer of sound insulation on the inside that reduces the noise, improving the ride quality.

That looks awesome, 19's are the way to go with the X1. 20s look stupid IMO.

Thanks! I feel the same; 20" is too much for me since I use the car with my family.

Hi Reefy, may I ask why did you choose a 225 tire? It seems too narrow for an 8.5" wheel.

Thanks!

Wow . Suddenly I lose confidence in TireRack, hahaha.

Anyway, I really like the look of your X1! =) Those black wheels with white X1 make a great contrast.

Well, you know, Iīm not going to consider myself an expert, haha, but I did a lot of research before buying my wheels and tires, and I have to say I'm quite obsessive

I fitted a 255/40r19 tire on a 19x8.5" et42 wheel, and it worked like a charm. It gave a flush look I wanted without any rubbing or problem, considering that I have Eibach lowering springs. Keep in mind that I use summer tires since we donīt have snow around here.

It's hard to say a recommendation since I donīt know the offset of your wheels, but you could definitely go for a 245/40r19 tire with that wheels if you want them wider. See attached picture for a comparison taken from https://tiresize.com/calculator/. Several guys here use that setup.

Please, also take a look at this thread: https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1729957&page=4. I was also looking for recommendations about tires width, and it was a good discussion.

Now you got me super curious, I emailed Tire rack about this tire size being quite narrow. Lets see what happens :P

Haha, that's the spirit! You know, I had 18x7.5" OEM wheels with 225/50 tires (I think you had the same setup). You can even put a 245/40 tire with 19x8" wheels. And you just saw my setup with 255/40 tires on 8.5" wheels.

So, that's why it seems weird to me TireRack recommended a 225/45 tire for a 19x8.5" wheel. I believe the tire stretches too much to cover the entire wheel. So, I would use a minimum tire of 235 width for that wheel, considering this information: https://www.tyresizecalculator.com/c...rim-size-chart. But again, I'm a big fan of the wider look; that's why I chose a 255 tire.

Let's wait and see what they say. Probably something related to BMW approval or recommendation .

225/45 is fine on an 8.5" wheel.
