M steering wheel damage

Hi everyone. A friend if mine drove my X1 and somehow damaged the steering wheel. I think with his ring. But i have tried it myself on al loaner with m wheel, but no damage.

Anyhow, is there a way to make it look better?

I drive a lot and have managed to do the same, a good quality leather treatment should restore it.

There are leather repair kits but myself I would try the wax shoe polish and buffing with a soft cloth.
Found this if it helps

Have you tried it? Worked on mine with Dodo Juice leather cleaner and sealant.

I used their leather repair kit on my light beige X1 seats and the colour match (to specific BMW upholstery colours) was spot on. Bought on eBay UK and they have various products that might help repair a steering wheel, especially if it's black. Very reasonable cost too at £9.95 (Nov '18).

Yes i have tried with a light sanding sponge, wich i also used on my f30 to give the wheel a matte finish. But also no luck with this

But i have ordered the 2 dodo juice items, should arrive tomorrow

Also anyone that works with repairing and restoring car upholstery can help. This type of damage, for what I have seen, can be successfully repaired.

And next time your 'Friend' is to drive behind the wheel, have him remove that cheese crater of a ring.

im not letting him drive anymore. Went to the dealer yesterday because there are some other defects on the leather apart from this. So there might be a replacement wheel

And good to hear about the prospect of a replacement wheel... Hopefully under warranty?

Got my steering wheel replaced under warranty thank god. The new one looks thicker (probably just in my head) and has the rough feel again.

But it is strange that after 2 years and 35000km on it, the wheel is all shiny and not matte anymore.

Lets see how long it takes with the new one
