2018 28i X Drive - max rim/tire size
Looking to utilize the stock wheels for dedicated snowies. I’d really like to fill up the wheel wells and get rid of the ‘tucked in’ look from stock.
Was contemplating spacers on the stock wheels, but then decided to go full aftermarket and proper NON run-flat tires. Anyone replace their stock wheels and have a max offset recommendation that won’t leave me rubbing (but will still make the stance appear better than as is). I’m aware the wider you go the more the tracking is compromised - especially on the f48. Thanks for opinions before I lay down the $. |

I have replaced all tires with NON runflats continentals 19" , made the vehicle much more pleasant to be in, ride comfort and noise levels have improved dramatically

I went a little bit nuts on my X2 for winter.. I'm running a 255/35r19 with offset +25 It's starting to look like a lifted truck The wheels themselves stick out maybe a tad outside the fender. The calculations put it 47.4mm wider. In terms of rubbing, it will never happen since the arches are so super high on the X1 (and X2). You could even probably make the patch even wider than a 255 but I would really see it only starting to hurt performance more. The winter tires to boot are already a nicer ride than the stock runflats, and definitely the extra width makes this thing stick to the road a lot more. I'm not out there to flog the car though

Was going to post a separate thread but I guess I’ll watch/hijack this thread..
Imminently ordering a 2020 X1 and am debating between the 18” non-RFT 570M wheels and the 19” RFT 816M wheels. I like the look of the car much more with the 19” wheels but the road quality in NYC suggests this is a bad idea. It is an even worse idea considering the complaints about documented RFT road noise since 2016. Having a spare take up space in the under floor compartment isn’t a big deal to me. |

I went from 18x7.5 570M wheels to 19 x 8.5 Flow One Sport F3 wheels at 45mm, fitted with 255/40/19 Continental Sport Extremes. Rims/tires pretty much stay flush with fenders and give a nice wider stance. Definitely more quiet than the Pirelli RFTs that were on stock rims. Smoother over rough patches of road and stickier than the OEM.
