"Bimmer" or "Beamer" clarification
Is it true that when referring to a BMW automobile that you should say "Bimmer," but when referring to a BMW motorcycle, you should say "Beamer?" I searched and found this thread saying that that was the case:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...er#post1977475 But I'm not sure if this is really accurate, or just someone stating something that they aren't really sure about. Inquiring minds want to know. Last edited by cbad335; 01-01-2009 at 07:25 PM.. |

It's true, Bimmers are cars, Beamers are bikes.

When I first got mine I was confused just the same. Looking at the word "Bimmer" and pronouncing it as "Beamer" didn't make sense to me, but I just went with it.

So you're saying that automobiles are called Bimmers, but that Bimmer is supposed to be pronounced Beamer? Now I'm even more confused

Yep--most people think there is an EA in Beemer--not the EE.
