Question Regular side mirrors instead of auto-dim mirrors

Hello,
I have F48 HT33 (US) that came with auto-dimming side (door) mirrors. I am based in Europe, and I would like to replace them with the European ones that have wide-angle section. I have purchased parts #232634111 (L) and #232634112 (R), but it seems that they have different connection types. I am able to connect mirror heating pins, but the white connection (for auto dimming?) remains unused.

Questions:
1) Are there any downsides to using European mirrors w/o auto-dimming. Should I worry that the mirror heating connection is being exposed to the outside?
2) Are there European mirrors with auto-diming that will fit HT33? (realoem only lists US mirror versions https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_9853 )

I was not aware of those differences before I order the new mirrors, but I have still some time to return them if needed.

I own EU spec F48 and only driver's side mirror is auto-dimmed. The passenger's one is regular. Bloody savings by bmw... My problem is I cannot seem to find the passenger's side auto-dimming mirror to retrofit

That's not saving AFAIK but EU laws
Buy an UK or any other RHD-vehicle passenger side mirror and then you will get autodimming aswell.

After some more browsing on realOEM I have found product codes for European wide-angle mirror glasses with auto dip: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...53#51167390618

LH - 51167285005, RH - 51167285006

I have found a pair on ebay and ordered, I hope they will fit.

seriously? bloody EU and its stupid laws

thanks for the tip. besides the glass itself I guess the wiring harness for auto-dimming will also be required. need to think about it if it's worth the hassle.

I would buy a whole mirror that includes everything.
IIRC if you have autodimming & power-fold on the driver side, the passenger side is already controlled by the LIN bus and you only need to buy a whole mirror.

Edit; just checked: If you have P430 (Interior and exterior mirror package) or P459 (Seat adjustment, electric, with memory) or P313 (Exterior mirror package) then your mirror is controlled by the LIN bus.
If you only have heating / manual seats and no power fold then the mirror is not controlled by the LIN-bus.

I have all these packages you're mentioning : 430,459,313. So I need to look for a complete UK mirror and it should work?

Yes, you need one with 5 pins (pre-LCI, that is). For LCI also camera can come into play (7 pins) but fitment is no problem.

Color of the topcap doesn’t really matter as you can use the old mirror cap.
What you need to keep in mind is that that the shadowline versiion is glossy black and normal version is normal plastics. This “triangle” is not so easy to replace if not impossible.
