Broken Pressure Sensor - everything needs to be replaced?
****
First of all I know very little about cars. Some details I mention below might not make sense. I hope you can still help me. **** I have a bmw x1 and it's losing power. I guess it's in limp mode. I finally got to a professional service that repairs BMWs only. First they thought that only the turbocharger was at fault. But after closer inspection the took the pressure sensor off and it was full of diesel. Then they checked other parts and lots of them were full with diesel. They told me the problem was very serious and will probably be very costly. They are replacing the sensor and some pipes (?) at the moment and they will try to clean everything else. But they said the chances are pretty slim because they tried it in the past on 3 other BMWs and the issue was never fixed with cleaning. They told me that we will probably have to replace many many parts and not just the turbocharger. They checked with ISTA+ and the details are: Code: 298E00 Charging pressure actuator, activation, overloading. Existent: No. I also have other errors but they said this was the main one. So any ideas on what I should do? |

So here are the errors I get: 298800- Charging pressure actuator, activation: Current too high 298B00- Charging pressure controller, output 2 (DC+), activation: Short circuit to B+ 298E00- Charging pressure actuator, activation: Overloading 298A00- Charging pressure controller, output 1 (DC+). activation. Short circuit to B+ 25D400 - Exhaust backpressure sensor before turbocharger, signal too high S 0398- Power management, battery condition: Battery faulty or worn out 801189- Mixing flap drive, right Specification of desired position failed This is what we tried so far: - Replaced fuel pressure sensor and pipes - Cleaned everything that was full of diesel. My mechanic says that he thinks the next part we have to replace is the turbocharger. Reading the thread above, everybody said the DDE control unit (engine computer module) is at fault. What should I do? |

I basically have the same issue and I don't know what to do next. What did you end up doing next? |

I live in a cheap country so it cost me only $200 (actuator $100 + mechanic $100) |
