X2 Oil Filters

I can't seem to find the running thread about oil filters for the various X2 models? Anyone still have a link to it or know if it's been removed?

Update as of 23 May 22: After having changed my own oil & filter (see post of that below) the correct filter for my '22 S-Drive here in the U.S. is the Mann HU-6012 or BMW / Mini Part # 11428593186

Since there's been so much confusion about which filter is for which car, I went ahead & purchased both types of filters (I can afford the $30ish to end up with 1 that won't be correct). This way I will have both types of filters on hand when I get around to doing my own 'supplemental' oil change which will probably be in the next 2-3 weeks.

I will post up which filter comes off of my X2 once I do the oil change & thus definitively answer (at least for my model year/configuration) which oil filter is correct for a non 'M' X2. Never owned a vehicle in my life where this was a mystery. Bizarre to me, but 'it is what it is'.

Anyway, here's what both look like in the boxes they come in & sitting beside each other.

As stated just above.. M series vs non M series.. pegs won't fit. Absolutely dumb since the filter itself is really the same.. just the cap holding it. I wouldn't be surprised if you could swap the end cap....

Ok. The mystery was solved at my house when I just did a supplemental oil & oil filter change. Interesting tidbit.... not only are the filters different but the little drain plug that's in the center of the filter housing (& that comes with a new filter in the kit) are very different as well.

Correct filter for my 2022 X2 S-Drive here in the U.S. is:

Mann HU-6012 or in BMW Speak: 11 428 593 186

Last Pic Note: The correct oil filter housing 'plug' (for my car) is the one on the right as looking at the picture I've posted i.e. the one with the long protrusion on the inside.

Heads' up - This was NOT the case in my '22 S-Drive X2.
