Questions about xDrive

Is not 100% clear for me how the xDrive on UKL platform works.

Which component sends power to the rear end ?
I've attached a photo of a front differential along with the drive shafts for front side. I think that upper shaft is the input shaft from the transmission.

Why does the rear differential has a multi-clutch unit ?
This means it can decide that even if the transfer box is sending power to rear, the rear would not lock ?!

Can also be done regarding make it more rear biased ?
