Unlocking when washing

Hi.

Does anyone know how to stop the X2 from locking and unlocking when washing. I have the Comfort Access option.
Also can you stop the boot from opening when you wash near it too.

I know I could leave the key in the house, but i do wipe round the doors when washing too.

Thanks

Do you mean you are touching the handles when washing/drying the car?

Are you also pushing in the bmw logo on the boot? Or doing a dance to kick the boot sensor to open with your leg?

I've certainly never had issues with my steadiness and washing/drying the car.

The only thing (and I tried it) that does work is to stick your keyfob in a 'faraday' pouch/bag so that the car cannot communicate with that. That def works. Amazon is your friend to find that as well.

Sometimes when doing a manual touchless wash wand rinse I have the same issue with the doors unlocking and locking, and the truck opening when you just walk by it too. Not sure what can be done. The doors locking and unlocking is no biggy, but the trunk opening while I'm trying to hose the car down is a little annoying for sure.

Kinda funnny as the whole open the trunk with your foot thing only works half the time anyway when I want it to work.

Happens to me too randomly when using a wash mitt or rinsing. I don't carry the key fob on my body anymore and leave it nearby instead, which has solved the problem. I haven't tested the cut off range, but keeping the key fob even 3-6 feet away from the doors might be far enough. Doesn't cost you a penny either.

If I leave it in the garage and wash the car on the driveway it's enough distance... on the self serve wash you're out of luck.. i have never opened up the boot.. but the side mirrors open and close as well as the locks.

Glad its not just me, I will try a faraday bag and then leave the remote in the car.
I can always unlock it with the phone app if it does lock.

Thanks for the answers.

Can I ask a seemingly obvious question?
I can see the tail opening while washing as an issue...

What harm does it unlocking while you're outside washing it do? you're there, it's in a safe place, and you can lock it when you're done since you have the fob. Most vehicles will do this if they have touch sensors in the door and you are hand washing with the fob nearby. Even if it unlocks while you're in a car wash, you can lock it again.

Am I missing something obvious?

I don't think it's a harm at all.. but more of an annoyance since the car seems like it's going crazy with electrical problems. Maybe there is some weird trick like how to change the windshield wipers..I need to look it up every time on these new cars

Just getting them to stay up and not retract down. I always forget it too. 🙂

Just leave the fob in the car. You can't lock the doors from the outside handles with the fob in the car.

If you're paranoid, make sure you have the My BMW app, in the unlikely event it locks with the fob inside ( it won't, I wash my car by hand every Saturday morning, self serve wash) you can unlock it remotely with your phone. I have never had to do that with any of the 3 modern day Comfort Access BMW's I've had since 2014.

Thanks Connery that's the tip!

xcelir8bmw : it's something like push the start button twice (without the foot on the brake) and then hold the wiper stalk up or down I can't remember. The wipers will come up so you can fold/bend the wipers nicely. I haven't done it on the X2, but on the X1 and a couple cars the wipers are tucked in nice so you can barely flip them up without risking scratching the hood!

Oh wow. I didn't do that and had no issues but I get it. Cool.

This happened to me constantly until I read the manual and realized I was too close. Don't think I've had it fail to open since.
