If you have a 2018 F48 Car supplied by BMWusa then it will have an Entrynav 2 HU and the map you will need is “Way”. [Route are for F48 build before approx 07/2017 with Entrynav HU] and EVO are for higher range models with NBT HU Head Units]. The only F48 supplied with NBT HU are in specific markets, such as Japan, Taiwan and Russia (to do with mapping requirements).

I like to update my 2016 X1 Msport to North America Way 2021-1 map, do I need a fSC code for update and how much it cost to update?

My old car had a Road Map North America Route 2016-1, RL_EntryNav_116293A

2016 X1's built up to July 2017 would have ENTRYNAV head units that can only use ROUTE maps, not WAY maps:

There is a link and posts in this thread for the North America ROUTE 2021-1 map. I think it is probable that an FSC code will be required for your 2016 X1, in which case, you can try to buy a code on eBay or other website.

2021 X1's do not use ROUTE maps.

I am not certain if they use WAY maps, or the head unit has changed from ENTRYNAV2.

To be sure, you can look up the map type/version in the iDrive Navigation settings.

It cost me $33.50 usd. It took half an hours to up load the map in the car.

I have to email with my car VIN number and screen shot of the map version and he gave me a quoted of $33.5 usd for the activation code and new map software.
There is nothing free to update map. It's cheaper than the dealer.
I think it worth to paid for the map update without any problem. It done in an hour after I paid and email me the whole procedure how to upload to the usb drive.

I used this guy, it's cheap and everything works fine. In my case, I needed a map update (19Gb) + FSC code.

I'm notoriously squeamish about Ebay sellers.

I can confirm this one worked great on my 2016 X1. Normally I would go through the "usual" channels for this. But I'm honked at BMW "pulling the plug" on the Connected Drive system after only four years blaming "cellular" non-support. It's bullshit.
