Picked up one of these babies..
If you don't know what this is, it is a Sig Sauer X-Five Legion. What makes this special is that it has tungsten mixed in with the polymer, making it a heavy more sturdy polymer firearm. It has the option of adding a red dot.. which I may do in the future. Purpose of this gun is not for carry.. but more for poor mans version of the CZ competition pistols. I have shot it one at Triggercon (a USA west coast Shot Show).

Knowing me, I had to mod it before even shooting it!
Added some JB Weld to the trigger bar and trigger, and filed it down. This would reduce take-up and creep, and it worked out great. If I had a welder, I would go that route to make it more permanent.. but temporary JB Weld. Now if I can figure out how to make the trigger more crisp on the break (trigger is smooth, but I always like crisp breaks)

I have a few hundred rounds of .40cal Ranger from when I was still on the job and I keep it just for that purpose.

I watched a Paul Harell video yesterday where he discusses bird shot for home defence and he comes out saying maybe it shouldn't be the first choice but the fact is at less than 20' it clearly gets the job done and yet won't penetrate three walls and exit your home.

Even considering I modified my Benelli M4 so it cycles light loads, I still wouldn't trust birdshot for home defense in a semiautomatic shotgun. For that reason I choose 00 buckshot with a wad (to control dispersion) for my condominium home defense. There are different options out there, this is the Hornady version i currently have loaded...

I wasn't thinking about autoloaders, you make a good point. I have a very old reliable pump action gun. I have a few boxes of #4, but you're right I'd go with the 00 before that, but in reality I'd likely grab my pistol first as it's the gun I am the most comfortable with. Muscle memory and all.

When did you start the process? Just curious how long it is taking these days.

October 15. I used the "Silencer Kiosk" which does everything online via an app and fingerprint reader. So they get it immediately and you don't have to visit your local LE agency.

Was expecting longer. Looks like almost 6 months dead on.

I have 2 rifles from DD. I want to get their new 300 blk pdw next. One suppressor for them all. Customer service is really top notch. Oh and they good reviews so far.

I put a DD upper on my SP1 conversion NFA lower. Really tight fit but I made it work. Needs a tap and mallet to open the action when I clean it but runs flawlessly.

I'd own a DD already if they were sold in NJ. I think I have to go to PA for one.

Also look at Wilson combat. I have one of their uppers in .458socom. They do really good work.
