Nothing really, can't think of any downsides - apart from the associated stereotype. I try my best to rid the motoring world of the "typical BMW" driver appeal by behaving and keeping my actions considerate and sensible at all times, but when I see another BMW on the road which is being driven like a retard, my heart just sinks

People think you got loads of money.. So i get sterotyped as daddys girl or stuck up.
Also, i hate when my customers see me pull in to work, they always figure "wow, we're tipping her too much"..

none. don't think any one in singapore really envies a 3 series driver. no real driver stereotypes. can see any character driving one, young, middle age or old. there are quite a lot of e46 and e90 models around. perhaps a recent downside for the e90 and the E60 is the lack of a spare wheel with RFTs.

Nobody believes I am Mexican...they think I am of a different ethnicity due to the stereotypes here on the westside of LA regarding BMWs and "brownish" people. That is all I am going to say, so as to not perpetuate the stereotype.

SERIOUS stereotyping. You own a bmw, so you automatically become:
-Cocky bastard -Rich bastard -Spoiled bastard -etc bastard When people that I don't know really know well ask me what I drive, I just tell them I drive "a car".

in singapore, i guess u could call us a ORDINARY b***tard. just too many of us driving it to be cocky, rich or spoiled. car prices here have nose dived in the last 2 years , even though they are still expensive. the worst part is we get penalised for driving big engined cars with more road tax. hence, every one drives base/ low engine size cars and pays a bomb for it.

If you ever get hitched to anyone of them, a prenup is highly recommended.

Not being let out at Junctions by other motorists here in the UK, cos they think I am a rich cocky little c*nt.
Worrying about my expensive car being scratched and maliciously damaged. The alternative is to being viewd as a dull, boring and unimaginative in my car choice by many other motoring enthusiasts (aka Top Gear, BMW 3 Series being a very uncool car) |

I don't like the stereo type crap. Here in Pittsburgh, they are not a dime a dozen like they are in Florida where I live sometimes. I drive a 3 down there and it blends in more and I prefer that. For some reason Pittsburgh is hard on BMW drivers. Not sure why?

Downside - when you have to drive a non-BMW like a rental car or my daughters VW this morning(dad can you take my car for service). Anything (almost) else makes driving a lot less enjoyable.

-ppl in japanese imports think your an ass for driving a BMW
-ppl think you are loaded/snobby -kids will try to race you to prove that their civics are better than yours -ppl with G35s and IS350s insist you are an idiot for buying a BMW and not theirs -You expect BMWs to be perfect so when something falls apart, you think all hell is breaking loose -driving other cars seem like a bore |

In many Benz lovers friends of mine view points, they never understand why I am paying so much for a European car which looks like a Honda.
