Current : 2008 E90 335XI, AT, cold weather package. Alpine White, boring interior. 145K miles.

#1: 2011 E92 335XI, MT, MSport, iDrive, possibly HK sound system. Lemans Blue/Saddle Brown, Dark Burl trim. 64k miles, $24K. Possibly shady dealer.

#2: 2012 E92 335XI, 6 MT, HK Sound, cold weather. Space Grey/Black, Aluminum trim. 50K miles, $24.8k. Not so shady dealer.

I was leaning #2 as it's closer by ~20 miles and newer/less miles. But it's much more bland and ideally I would rather have #1 TBH. Shady dealer is throwing me off quite a bit though.

Simple answer is #1. Because of MSport and Navigation (iDrive) alone.

Your #2 is lacking both Premium and Sport Packages. Boooooooo.

Longer answer is I wouldn't recommend either....based on your opinion of #1 dealership and neither being Certified Pre-Owned.

FYI, I don't think Dakota is a color, it's a style of leather.

Fixed. It's Saddle Brown, thought it was Dakota Brown. Thanks for that.

#2 Has sport/Heated wheel but no sport seats so I'm thinking its non sport. Maybe that wheel comes standard IDK.

CPO is a bit out of my price range even with similar type of options and miles. I would buy a RT66 type warranty anyway

CPO status only adds $1500 to dealer cost, the fee paid to BMW NA.
What does a RT66 add to the purchase expense of a non-CPO?!

Near me CPO's are in the 32+ range. The only things I really want are 6MT and sport pack. I could get a CPO Autobox with sport pack for about 25 or so. Trying to get out of the AT though.

Answer #1, because of the I-drive and the M-sport ,for example I personally bet you been driving without it and you want an upgrade that feels a big different with achivement (an actual upgrade...) No need to shave off that package, when many members here got there project going for an I-drive. But yet again you put down its from a shady dealer, we know you double check the specs and condition but always triple the need to do so from dealers like those. P.S. Blue sounds sexy xD

I wouldn't buy either of those cars. Too many miles. If you must shop in that budget, you'll do much better getting a lightly used G37.

the 335 > g37
335 > g37 > 328

The G is closer to a 335i than a 328i when it comes to performance.

I think if that's his strict budget the G will be a much better buy. He's looking at two cars that have quite a few miles, no warranty and non cpo. Anyway if it were my money that's what I'd do. G's tend to come well optioned (nav, camera, sports package etc) relatively cheaper too.

Go BMW if you can get new/cpo with nice options. That would be at least 10k higher than the price range he mentioned.

Sure you can go even cheaper and buy a 2006 with 120k miles, it's not about the price of the car it's the maintenance and reliability.

#1...M-sport trumps all other options. And then Idrive. No brainer. If there are problems with the shady dealer(which we don't know what that is) then I would keep searching. #2 just does not cut it. As sadkemper says you are looking for an upgrade and this can only be done with a fully loaded car. Color choice is a big factor..but that's up to you.

Shady dealer is EMG in Avenel... You can search on here and see threads concerning there practices. While #1 is beautiful, the bad rep from the dealer and the fact that I just missed their call and the salesman resorted to texting me... Too shady for me.

I am indeed looking for an upgrade from the current Base 335 I'm in. That constitutes interior, lower miles, and MT.

Although I am a little on the high side of being negative equity on my loan now so it's weighing on my decision quite a bit as well. I make 140 mile trips on the car 2-3 times a week and it's daily driven a minimum of 70 so that's why I have a ton of miles. Although they are 80% highway and the car still drives great just getting up there in miles IMO.

I do like them G37's too, but it'd have to be Sport or bust. I would have to drive one before I could ever decide, I just love the way BMW drives.

If I were in your position I would be patient and wait. #2 doesn't seem to be what you're looking for. #1 is from a shady dealer and doesn't have a cold weather package. I'm not sure where you live, but guessing it's somewhere with a cooler climate since you want x-drive. (I'm assuming heated seats and wheel are not included in the M-Sport package, but if they are forgive me!)

Ask shady dealer for the Car Fax and if they would let you have a mechanic give you an idea of car #1's current health. If it isn't under warranty, or CPO, provided all is currently ok, and it hasn't been crashed what is the problem? It isn't like they will be doing the maintenance or repairs for you anyhow. For those you no doubt will go with an indy that you trust.

Just checked the carfax on #1 and it has accident reported front driver side primarily.. 2 previous owners, car was in accident with 2nd owner 1 year ago and "repossessed". before sold at auction 17 days later. Does seem to have regular maintenance though at a dealer and a service warranty claim at one point. Beautiful car though and appears to be on the lot for a month or so.

And #2 has barely any maintenance on the carfax with only 1 owner..But clean otherwise

I'm figuring at least $3-4k upside down on my car as is.

Might have to wait this one out

Good luck with EMG, lol. Usually their online price is without all the silly fees that they make up to raise the sale another 2k. Chances are the car isn't even there anymore, the way they play ads to get you in their doors.

lol at 64k being "high miles". 335i's can't possibly be that terrible..

I would do #1.. The interior of non-sport cars is pretty awful IMO. I wish our E91 at least had the sport wheel!

A general suggestion - don't buy a car without test driving all of the competition. In this case definitely do test drive a G with sport. I was pleasantly surprised.

In my case, since my budget was $25k (similar to yours) I decided to get 328i instead (2012, CPO with 25k miles, quite loaded). My suggestion would be to either raise your budget and score something similar with a really low mileage 335i for about $32k. Either that, or shop around for other cars in the lower budget. Don't buy a car that's already 60k-70k miles, then when you put a ton of miles on it it will be worth nothing.

Yeah definitely test drive a G and test drive other cars too.

Repoed, auction and service claim are not necessarily bad--owner didn't pay and dealer did not have a need for the car and sent to auction. Cars sent and bought at auction is very common and most bmw's have been in for a warranty item. If possible, you need to try and find out what the accident was and how it was fixed. And the service should be detailed what it was. My car had been in a minor accident..has had some warranty items(amp, oil filter gasket, water pump and a hose replaced{before I bought it}). And it was bought at auction by the bmw dealer where I bought it. And it was at the dealer for more than a month. But it did have a year warranty and then CPO, low miles and has all the options I wanted. Remember, looking for a 5 year old car without any baggage at a decent price is nearly impossible. You just need to find out how heavy that baggage is.

I probably wrote some of the comments on them that you searched up. If you have the time and patience to play ball with them, best of luck.

M-Sport is important, of course. I've spent five years in a 335i with walnut burl/terracotta brown interior and it still looks gorgeous. The aluminum/black combo is boring, IMO.
