Harman Kardon Door Moldings
I'm looking for a pair of Harman Kardon Door Frame Moldings, don't need the tweeters.
Know of any recyclers with 2016 + X1's on hand with the pieces. BMW Part Numbers 51-33-7-435-818 51-33-7-437-817 |

They are regularly sold on eBay but a number of forum members have bought from the following site which is they have reported as being identical (incl logo). Example link (please note I have no experience of purchasing from the site). https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000...archweb201603_ Last edited by MJE60; 02-09-2021 at 03:19 PM.. |

Took about a month to get (directly from Germany). Less than $200 for the pair shipped. |

The first thing I did was Upgrade the Stock HI Fi Amp to the Match AudioTec Fischer Amp, Model UP 7BMW
The next thing I did was upgrade the Under seat Sub woofers with the Match AudioTec Fischer Subs, Model UP W8BMW-S The next step it to replace the door and dash speakers. This will also be Match Units by AudioTec Fischer. As noted above I ordered the Front Door Frame Molding to mount the tweeters. Front Doors Match UP C42BMW-FRT.2 (Component) Rear Doors Match UP X4BMW-FRT.2 (Coax) Center Match UP X4BMW-CTR.3 (Coax) Once this is all done the Amp will get tuned to the system by the Dealer https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/match/ |

Harman Kardon Moulding Fitting
I didn't take note when removing the old Door Trim Molding where it fitted in respect to the rubber window seal.
Looking from the exterior of the car in the top rear corner of the frame there is a triangular rubber. Does the plastic door frame molding cover this rubber or does it go in behind? Same all around, does the plastic H/K molding tuck in between the two lips on the rubber seal (see attached) or just wrap the steel door with the two lips left between the glass and the molding when installed? Thanks, Last edited by Bcborn59; 03-21-2021 at 12:32 PM.. |

The lip on the plastic molding goes between the two pieces of rubber (second groove to the left). So in the end, looking at the tweeter side their is a flap of rubber between the outer edge of the door frame molding and door frame itself. Top Rear Corner At the top rear of the door with the window down looking in from the outside you will see the plastic triangle with the rubber triangle in behind it. NOT HAPPY WITH THE CHINESE KNOCKOFFS OF THE HARMAN KARDON DOOR MOLDINGS I had to cut off all the locating pins on the knockoffs as they were off by 1/4 - 5/16"". I used two sided tape in their place. I had to take the metal clips that snap to the door frame off the original BMW moldings and put them on the Knockoffs as the knockoff H/K moldings didn't come with any. They work, but do not hold as well to the plastic tabs on the knockoff H/K Moldings as they are typically crimped on. I had to use sound deadening material to place behind the tweeter and the door as the Knockoffs did not come with the foam insert. In the end it is back together and sounds way better. Word of advice, go Genuine BMW if replacing the door moldings for H/K tweeter mounts. Last edited by Bcborn59; 03-21-2021 at 05:40 PM.. |
